The XKCD guy did a survey thing to test this cliche and it turned out men and women mostly named stuff the same. The big difference was in the labels each used that the other didn't--the non overlapping parts of the Venn diagram. The women side was weird adjectives like "dusky pink." The men side was "gay", "biege", and "penis."

Indeed. Anti-vaxxers should be criminalized. I mean that in a sincerely unironic way.

Right before lockdown measures went in place I saw a couple of anti-vaxx billboards pop up. Apparently the campaign started in January, but didn't reach my part of the state until March.

This is one of their early signs:

Sorry that it's not really in keeping with the thread theme, except in the darkest, dumbest interpretation of "funny."
Some organization put up a billboard near my house talking about how terrible single-payer healthcare would be and every time I think of it all I can think of is the horrible timing.

Yeah gender stereotypes are old and lovely, it was just meant to be a joke at the fact that colours are subjective and the misunderstandings that could result from a complex colour coding system like in the picture I quoted.

Will chroma key jokes continue to make sense in the future? The queen wearing green only makes it a bit easier to replace her shirt given modern methods, feels like green = green screen may have a limited lifetime. I'm fascinated by the choices people made around her brooch.

I think it is more of a jab at sloppy house painters. The painter didn't get paint anywhere and got the right shade of paint. It was kind of an art to get the correct shade of paint back when you mixed it by hand, used oil based pant, and didn't have a paint shaker to distribute the color evenly. My grandfather was a house painter, and even when retired complained about working and mixing oil based pants, and how great latex paint is to mix and get colors right.

When the comics code went into effect in the 1950s, lots of horror and crime comic publishers had to find a new business model. EC Comics decided to drop "Comics" from their name, stop publishing Tales From the Crypt, and create Mad Magazine. Some of their artists, including Jack Davis, kept contributing.

Incidentally, Davis also contributed to Cracked.
