Considering the definition used in this very discussion varies and isn’t even exclusive to anime I think it’s kind of worthless.

REDBAR INTENSIFIES

We did it, lock it up VG, onto the PIS5

But re: gaming hours per dollar, I paid 60 bucks for RE3 and I enjoyed it, but I thought I was getting something at least comparable in length to RE2, but I don’t really see an incentive to replay it unless I’m missing something? I would’ve gladly paid 40, but oh well. But still, a silly thing to complain about when you have indie games like Outer Wilds coming out brand new for a measly 25$, and it’s one of the best games of the generation. I paid 60$ for The Last Guardian and beat it in 12 hours, and it was a privilege to even get to play that game, and of course I promptly replayed it several times. Also Disco Elysium, paid 32 bucks for it and it was about 30 hours long and I played it twice so far, and I’m gonna play it a 3rd or 4th time when it’s out on Switch and or PS4.

Edit: damnit it’s the 4001st page now, guess we gotta get to 5k before the piss5. Also lol if you’re posting in the PS4 thread and wondering if a game is too anime. This very thread may have turned me into a weeb alone by getting me into Nier, and Berserk by way of Bloodborne and Souls. But I’m a weird sort of weeb I guess, in that I only really like Berserk and prior to that had only really watched like Studio Ghibli films, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Akira, but I’m also into like playing Danganronpa and other similarly anime rear end games.

it communicated to me that this particular game has a lot of similarities with things I dislike, and thus I will not buy the game. Its pretty simple really and I appreciated the honest answers.

It doesn't mean said game or thing is bad, just that I know I won't enjoy it.

In one hand, I hold a DVD of Kirby Right Back at Ya! And in my other hand, a DVD of Hellsing and someone asks me for what anime is and I don't know what to say. Its like asking 'how third person's a game is. That could extend from Clock Tower 3 to The Last of Us. Personally I need more details.

So I've replayed the mako reactor mission a dozen times over the years and I'll admit, the demo sure as hell makes that cool, it's fuckin hard to tell what the gently caress is going on in some of the darker areas of the game (and seriously, the game is dark normally. Where the gently caress did the sun go in this world?)

Anyways, it has me debating on buying the game but that boss fight was pretty nifty.

Seems they're using the same engine as in FF15, weird ghosting and model fades like in that game.

They eventually quit switching engines and ended up with UE4 but boy does it look and feel FF15 for a while.

I still expect a day one patch to fix some of the more ridiculous visual issues like doors with textures that simply won't render ever, still Thursday in CET zone. Maybe they went and optimized during the course of the delay..

I think the ghosting you see in FF7R and other games of this generation comes from the popularity of TAA, which is cheap and leads to a high-quality image but leaves this artifacting effect on particles and hair. It's literally everywhere from God of War to DMCV, and more apparent on consoles since they tend to run at 30fps. It's a good thing that DLSS 2.0 appears to be the real deal on PC since that results in a much cleaner image.

oh yeah and to vaguely catch up itt, the dualsense is extremely cool and looks comfy as hell. It is what seems like a very logical upgrade from the DS4 in ergonomics, form and aesthetics and I can’t wait to get it in my hands!

What you should do is buy the Dark Souls Trilogy instead because it's a great deal and has all the DLC in one box. I've seen it around for cheap.

Also, in lieu of online gaming I've been finishing up loose ends in DS1 before I get FF7. Maybe the mood of that series just works for the present moment.

DON'T go to the Catecombs right off the bat.

Try to get used to the controls for parry, riposte, and jump attack. Don't play it like Bloodborne, for the most part trying to tank hits will not work out. If you have fastroll then be about that, but right out of the gate you're going to be trying to bait attacks more often and then moving in afterwards for a poke. Enemy attack patterns are a whole lot less complex in DS1 and they usually don't have mid-fight escalation, so just exercise patience and work the room. Put points into STR and END right away. Save your fire/bolt paper for when you've died a few times and have a good feel for the boss' moveset. Once you get the ability to kindle bonfires you can choose strategic jump off points where you can start with more Estus resources. Going into the unknown with 10 or 15 Estus feels pretty good.

More tips that I don't think have been said:

-Almost every weapon is viable, most important is if you like how the moveset feels
-If you two-hand a weapon, your Strength stat counts as 1.5x, including for if you can wield it. So a 30 STR weapon can be wielded at 20 STR if you use two hands.
-Equip load under 25% means fast rolling, under 50% is medium roll, over 50% is fat roll. Best to try to keep it under 50% at least
-Endurance raises both equip load and stamina, never a bad idea to invest in early on
-Never invest in the Resistance stat
-10 Attunement gives you a spell slot, very useful to play around with. There is a type of magic that requires no stat investment, and it's worth having at least one slot for it eventually

Looking at gamefaqs trying to figure out the few things I cannot figure out (finished the game, doing Hard playthrough, gathering collectibles), what the kids wanted was a Midgar chapter that took as long as a casual first run guide-less Dragon Quest 7 playthrough, while also being a 1:1 remake not changing anything at all, not even Tifa's flour-bag FMV tits.
