Mrs and I are going to have a crack at making bagels this weekend, the local Woolies had Laucke bread flour and even some of the 5kg bags

Mrs went to look at the place with the 12.5kg flour and turns out it's just a pre-order, they've got a pallet coming

Which is even wilder when I realised that their eBay listing only had 4 bags left

drat that's a fuckload of flour, I just want a couple kilos to do my iso baking

Also Jestery that banana bread looks v good

I'm now properly running out of food and need to get more. Are you guys saying the supermarkets are still cooked? Or have things calmed down?

Most things are on the shelves around here. Just don't leave shopping until late in the day and be aware that purchase limits are still in place for some stuff.

Not a lot will change now until it's safe to shop more frequently, and that's months away at best.

Haha just an update, my stickybeak dad told my stickybeak neighbours about this and one of them called the cops, and the cops called my brother on his cellphone and asked him a bunch of questions. My poor brother had to talk to the cops for 15 minutes about it.

Same. Need to buy a mower this weekend since I used to borrow one when I was in Bathurst.

Probably going to buy FF7 remake and play that or DCS instead with my first free weekend in ages, or just watch my cat since I just moved her in. Cats and hardwood floors are hilarious

We've been getting enough sun to make it grow but not enough sun to dry it out enough to mow it. I can barely see my dog when she's out the back now.

my grass is pretty short where i've given it a go over in the last couple of months (like 1/4 of my loving block) and its not raining every day up here so i'm thinking about doing a few more bits today but i'm also considering just going out and committing a genocide on those blackjack daisy motherfuckers that make the cobblers pegs that my dog gets coated in whenever I so much as take her out with me for a second to potter. They have been thriving anywhere i've cut the grass and popping up like a goddamned plague and even the tiny ones that are barely popping their heads up are starting to go to seed

When I was waiting for my doctor's to open the other day, a heap of old people had turned up to get their flu shot and they were standing right next to their friends having a chat. It's weird that someone would take measures to reduce their chance of getting killed by the flu but not to reduce their chance of getting killed by covid-19.

Mrs spergo and I made bagels, highly recommend doing it. The trickiest part is finding the malt syrup in woolies but it does exist and I found it near the spreads at my local one

recipe

Our takeaway was that it's best to do this all fairly quickly, so shape the bagels to proof them rather than proofing in a big batch and shaping the next morning. I think we'd knocked most of the puff out of them but the yeast was in sleep mode. They still puffed up fantastic. Pics on discord
