I'm tripping right now... Don't fuck this up for me.

My commute costs around $400 monthly so we're saving money on that and shitloads more on childcare. No doubt the next energy bill is going to be a whopper though.

It's hard to take too much joy since we have a few family members who have had hours/salary reduced, to zero in some cases. We're also trying to spread the extra money around to the local businesses that we want to see open again at the end of this. It's kinda weird getting home delivery parma from the pub but somehow comforting that pub meals are still an option.

Yeah like i said, it's a silver lining. Very dark cloud and quite a narrow lining.

I'm looking up youtubes of Bunnings employees assembling the cheap cabinets I got and they all skip the last step that I want to double check, presumably bc its not very specific in the original instructions, I think I have to clamp the drawer fronts on and drill them in from the inside I think? That or clamp, mark, remove and drill that way which would be easier but the actual instructions are very vague on this step

Clamp and drill from the inside imo.

there was a particular futures trade in an isolated location in the US today that went for -$34 a barrel because physical storage is at capacity and stopping supply is slower and more expensive than keeping it flowing if the producers how this poo poo turns around. Otherwise I understand the average price is still ~$20 a barrel (still absurdly low) and BP is back to loving anyone who is still driving charging $1.20 a litre when some places were down to $0.75 a litre recently.

The missus and I had some good luck at Office Works a couple of weeks ago as the work from home craze was getting into gear. Might not still be okay, but basically I think the in-store locations are your best bet since they're inexplicably still open and probably have dreg stocks left over.

I checked the Officeworks website and it lists basically everything chair-related as being out of stock in every store in a 20km radius, and given the current circumstances charging into a big-box store on a whim doesn't seem like the greatest idea I've ever had.

Looks like there's a decent amount of stuff on eBay but I've somehow reached Anno Domini 2020 without having ever bought anything from eBay before so I'm a bit paranoid about going down that route.

I've bought hundreds of things from eBay and only twice had problems. Sellers try very hard to solve issues because negative feedback has a huge impact.

That said, anything Officeworks carries is likely to be sold by someone else as well.

Just walk in. They had no stock listed for my closest shop but it had 3-4 chairs in stock.

I got the last non-hideously coloured chair in my Officeworks.

Bought my last chair from Super A Mart, still mostly good a bit torn up from the cat using it as a scratching post but still comfortable enough.

Yeah this was my experience too. I have no idea what their deal is with online stock, but as noted I also got onto it a couple of weeks ago so ymmv.

[edit]

also although I would consider it to have been reasonably busy at the time I didn't have to touch anything other than the chair box to carry it out to the car and I reckon most people who are getting onto wfh arrangements have probably done so by now.

I bought one of those fancy Aeron chairs from a place that seems to clear out offices when they're being renovated. Was a $1000 chair that I got for about $200 and it was the former property of suncorp according to a sticker on the bottom. I figure they should last 10-15 years plus so if it's just a couple of years old I'll be good and I know that those big corporates don't hold on to that stuff for long anyway.
