Lol if there's anyone that could come close to Trump in outsider wackiness it's Ventura. I still remember when he made all the press wear badges that said "jackal".

I definitely would pay more attention to an election with both a green party eco-socialist and a libertarian party Jesse Ventura on the ballots but I'm guessing he's too late for that primary also Oh well maybe Vermin Supreme will win

I can't even call him a libertarian. Ventura is more like the living embodiment of the average american's scattershot political beliefs that make no sense.

Did it get posted that the Greens are on the ballot in Illinois? The judge ruled that parties only need 2500 signatures to get in and the Greens (and Libertarians) are gonna be listed automatically.

if the Greens want my vote, they have to change their insane anti-nuke position. like straight up uranium plants are better than our carbon addiction, but there are way safer nuclear options out there. the greens gotta get behind this.

The point of voting green is that the party will be infinitely easier to change than the Democrats. The greens can eventually get nuclear power into their platform, but the democrats will literally never be worth voting for no matter what anybody does.

Also the secondary point of voting green is that if they get 5% of the vote then like half of the democrats would fly into a hilarious apoplectic rage for the next 18 months, it would be amazing.

Maybe not if we keep harping on nuclear power being a disqualifying issue for the greens they won't. The point if that the party is not only currently better than the Republicans and Democrats but also has infinitely more potential to improve than both, that's the message to hold on to right now. Worrying about "electability" is exactly what gets you a candidate like Joe Biden.

The Greens can be influenced unlike the fully purchased and locked down Democrats. If enough pro-nuke socialists enter the party they'll be a pro-nuke socialist party Get dat 5%, enter the party, join the Howie Horde https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEG_ELHbN8k

Worrying about "electability" is exactly what gets you a candidate like Joe Biden. Precisely. Vote for a party that supports a majority of your viewpoints. Now that the Democrats have thrown the idea of FDR-style New Deal social democratic reforms, they represent precisely zero (0) of my personal political opinions. The whole "electability" thing is a loving scam to get you to vote against your interests, so cast that poo poo into the ditch and get with the program. Green Is The New Red!

I think the nature of the way the primary played out also pisses off more progressives--more than the actual candidate himself. If the party had consolidated behind Pete or Amy and pulled off the same hat trick I don't think the reception from the left would be any warmer.
