Long term heavy steroid use fucks with the left ventricle of your heart and increases arterial plaque buildup (clogged arteries). Combine that with a high cholesterol diet (eating junk on the road), prescription painkiller abuse and/or cocaine and you have a heart attack cocktail.

STOP DOING HEROIN
Pete Dunne was champ for 2 years because NXT UK got stuck in development hell and they had zero plans for him or the belt aside from the occasional Takeover match. And once the show finally started, they practically tripped over themselves moving the belt to WALTER.

So a hearty lol at the idea of him "elevating" a belt they barely gave a poo poo about in the first place.

It's like goldy or bronzy, but made of iron.

I've rarely seen my interest in a wrestler plummet like my interest in Pete Dunne has.

I was at Chikara King Of Trios in 2017. The final match on the final night was Sendai Girls vs British Strong Style, and it was one of the best matches I had ever seen. Just a tremendous performance from people doing something powerful and energetic and different from what was on TV. It's one of the things that reignited my interest in wrestling.

And every time I've seen Dunne since then, I've cared a bit less. I still enjoyed his matches (such as they were), but the refreshing independent streak seemed to just vanish. Once NXT UK started up and it was clear that it was harvesting all available talent from the UK indies, Dunne just seemed like one of the guys who had let that happen. The fact that he has a Defend Indie Wrestling t-shirt line is even more galling.

Fundamentally, I just wish he'd tried to make Attack a success. It might not have worked, but it would have been a more interesting failure than this.

Oh well, there are more interesting British wrestlers out there.

I mean there aren't that many better opponents to see someone for the first time against than that Sendai Girls team: its a pretty drat good team!

I'd agree with this: I don't think its them signing that makes them uniquely bad but its the way that they go out of their way to go after people that criticise NXT UK or anyone involved: the "not the way" tweet from a while back; the stuff with Justin Sysum last year, its the fact that it appears to be a coordinated assault on people that go against the grain. I don't think anyone objects to the idea of people signing although they find it sad; its them trying to hold up their decision as being this great thing for independent wrestling rather than just them cashing in.

The thing with it is that its just managed to destroy the star power of a lot of those wrestlers because you just don't see or hear about them anymore because no one watches NXT UK and because the Indies have a lot less buzz to them. Like a big factor in why Chris Brookes has jumped a load of people in star power is because he didn't sign and is doing fun stuff in Japan for example; because he still comes back and when he does it feels like a bigger name coming home; same with Ospreay as well. Hell you could argue that the top woman to have come from the UK scene at the moment is Bea Priestley which would have sounded crazy a few years ago and that's because she didn't sign the first contract that came to her and instead built her name up outside WWE and this AEW/Stardom combination is perfect for that. Toni Storm a few years ago was seen as this person that had a load of potential to be a genuinely big name: she's done basically nothing the last two years and doesn't feel anything like that now.
