It owns that the "life isn't fair, suck it up, buttercup" crowd is being sent into apoplectic fits because they can't get a haircut or need to wear a mask.

Nothus posted:The good news is that robust T and B cell immune responses correlate with virus clearance, which means serology testing is an accurate measure of immunity. It also means those vaccines directed against the spike protein (which is most of them) have a good chance of success. I really want an accurate antibody test. I had covid toes over a month ago with weird tingling in my head. No other symptoms. I had 4 contacts, and no one got sick. I'm hoping my immune system killed it off without it gaining hold and replicating and causing permanent damage. I'm a mostly vegetarian ultrarunner, so I might be a tad healthier than the average american my age (38), and I usually clear infections overnight. I'm still acting like I'm susceptible, and it would be a major peace of mind to take that worry away (mostly because my roommate doesn't care about any of this, and I've never seen him wash his hands coming into the house), but there's no way to know I'd have long term immunity without serial titers. edit: also, post-docing in georgia...get me out of here! This hits me hard as it's something I've been dealing with since this started. I work in an industry replete with conservatives who ignored this as long as humanly possible. I was the lone voice about covid in the office when this started and on multiple times had shouting arguments about even trying to do basic planning like how much staff we need on site at all times and doing red/blue teams since our team is fully mission essential. The problem is now that I can use what little political power to make a fuss about these off site management who want to do hardware installs. Which will send 8-10+ people travelling over multiple weeks. All for a project they and our customer has admitted is not 'essential' last month informally. I probably can't do much and it would mean speaking up and making a fuss on 20+ person call. But i feel like such an rear end for not doing it despite it meaning little. I figure I can better try to protect the local people who work with me as much I can. Much less myself. In any case I figure this will get slapped down, our company is super huge and ultimately its' going about 2 levels from the top and like 5 levels about this manger so hopefully that get's smacked down pretty quick.
