Those section 31 ships from season 2? It might be a slight variant on them, I honestly can't remember, but again, like so often, the awfulness stems from Discovery. Eugh. IMO this one is better than the Picard ship. At least there is space for a room behind all the windows on the saucer cut-out, which you can't say for the Zheng He class. On that ship there are windows on very narrow raised strakes on the saucer section that could only have a hallway behind them.

WTF, that ship is three times the length of the original Enterprise, its contemporary (and over 100m longer than the Enterprise-D)? Or did the version in Discovery get a JJ-style size inflation?

That's the 1701 in the middle alongside discovery and the nimrod in the top left, so yeah, about 2-3 times the length? MikeJF fucked around with this message at 22:08 on May 5, 2020 |

I really like this fan design. I think it's one of the better interpretations and updates of the TNG style. Lol that it's called Discovery, but to be fair it's from no later than 2003.

It just occurred to me that this is clearly a riff on the USS Vengeance from Star Trek Into Darkness, which was also a drone ship, and built by S31

The worst part of all this is we're absolutely going to see the Ent-F at some point in the next few years and it's gonna be 100x worse than anything posted here so far e: if there's one tiny ray of hope I can grasp onto it's that I actually really liked the Disco version of the 1701 Snow Cone Capone fucked around with this message at 00:28 on May 6, 2020 |

In TNG the Enterprise just never started its 10 year deep space exploration mission right? The thing they designed the ship for and the reason there are a bunch of families in there? Did they ever explicitly cancel that?

I don't really like it since it doesn't look like it belongs in a post-TNG time, but if this had been the design for the Ent-C you could buy it as coming between the Excelsior and the Galaxy.

IIRC that kid who was making the VFX for the fan film in Trekkies actually ended up doing the Ent-D model they used in These Are The Voyages, and when someone pointed out he had the saucer impulse engines lit up basically stuck up his fingers and said that this was the canon version now and they should suck it.

Had a very bad week (death in the family). Did a little tiny bit of retail therapy to hopefully make myself feel slightly better. Original 1979 pressing of the TMP soundtrack (the sleeve is in good shape, but the vinyl itself is nearly perfect still, blasting the dry dock music right now and it owns) and another insignia badge for my collection. Since nobody gives a poo poo about the TMP era anymore it can be hard as hell to find these, this one is from a German licensed run about twenty years ago. It's not screen-accurate (the delta should be a darker bronze color), but it still makes me a little bit to add it to the collection. Drone fucked around with this message at 13:27 on May 6, 2020 |
