I'll have to try a vanilla install to compare. I do notice a serious amount of hitching if I use stuff like 6 LBX10s and just absolutely sandblast something to death, but if I kill something with my 12 laser Blackhawk it's totally smooth.

LBXes hitch the game badly, even in vanilla. It's harmless but another annoying "did it crash or is it loading" hitch.

No matter how good they are I kind of hate using LBXes for that reason, it's super unsatisfying to watch because of the way they make the game stutter.

I love them so much though :X

I know cluster sandblasting is technically suboptimal, but even modded with difficult enemies and larger fights the game is quite easy and it never really gets old just going for massive missile bukakke or clustershot hell.

LBXs have a stat called VolleyDivisor that doesn't seem to appear on any other weapon and is probably there to make sure the pellets fire simultaneously rather than in sequence. I wonder if that's the culprit?

It's either that or something about the way the game loads the DLC files takes long enough to confuse it for a few moments.

Yeah, the game is clearly calculating attack results at the same time that it's playing the shooting & damage animations, which is easier for them but has the unfortunate hitchy results. VolleyDivisor is what makes LBXes & Snubs fire all their attacks at once rather than in sequence like missiles & UACs. But that also means they have 6-12 times more damage packets to work out in an attack.

They should be pre-calculating everything before even starting the attack, and then playing the animations & pop-ups in a nice smooth queue based on those results. But that's a much more complicated system.

Though that does make me think that my impression of CC could be totally off-base, because the thing I did was finish up a career in 1.8, then update to 1.9 and change out mods to start a new game. When you're running around with lights and mediums the attack hitch is way less noticeable just from fewer guns shooting.

LBXes are the best weapon in the game in vanilla. They just do ridiculous amounts of damage for their weight and heat.

Yeah, of course, the base ones in Heavy metal do like literally 6x more damage than the TT versions of the equivalent LBXes lol. To say nothing of the ++ models.

Just did the hatchetman flash point, why aren't the majority of the missions flashpoints? They're all so drat good especially when they do poo poo like throw consecutive deployments and such. They should release a content drop of hundreds of flash points.

Infinitely many points, but zero length.
I can recommend the 3025 Commander’s Edition mod. They’re working on the 1.9 version which is going to expand the timeline to the clan wars, but for now it’s all pre-clan timeline (ends at 3057).

It keeps most of the mechanics vanilla to vanilla plus but adds in a ton of variants, mechs, and weapons plus the full inner sphere map and Galaxy at War. It’s good.

I'm at the point where I can launch the final mission (I think) and it's telling me I should be prepared to equip 2 full lances. I've been selling off everything I don't use and pretty much only using my A-Team of Mechwarriors. I'm gonna knock out a few missions to scrounge up some more mechs and level up the goof troop a bit, but how balanced to the lances need to be? Do I need to spread my talent and serious mechs evenly between the two groups or is that not how it works?

Hannibal Rex
Feb 13, 2010
It just means you have two back to back missions, and you may need backup pilots and mechs in case your main team gets injured/severely damaged.

If the first mission goes smoothly, you can just reuse the same team.

My god does the lance you're given in the Training Day contracts ever improve? The skulls keep going up but its always the same lance build and I have yet to find anything heavier to bring myself. Earlier, two pirate Commando 1B's were carving up my own trainee commando and Panther with their drat LL's. The Urbie would be more useful if the pilot came with a halfway decent gunnery score.

And I'm really having a hell of a time with Javelin's or other little things whiffing a melee on one of my mech's backs, only to core them out with the small laser. Little bastards. :argh:

Tho speaking of Urbie's, I really like my little guy. I want to put my COIL-S on it but i realize it doesn't really have the movement to capitalize on it.

E: lol okay I just had to talk poo poo, first round of combat, trainee "Burger Time" lives up to his name by head-capping and turning into mincemeat an enemy with his Urbie. Good poo poo, dude.

Is the reward the same? The alternative of letting 2 lances beat each other then swooping in and capping the survivors sounds much easier.
