To bring it full circle, Biffa Bacon is the Viz parody of Dennis the Menace It's Geordie vernacular. Still readable I think? Bogmonster has a new favorite as of 22:08 on May 18, 2020 |

The founding fathers didn’t die face down in the dirt like dogs so that I could be menaced by a black loving haired Dennis, I’ll have you know. Furthermore...

Bogmonster posted:To bring it full circle, Biffa Bacon is the Viz parody of Dennis the Menace Biffa Bacon is a parody of the Dandy strip "Bully Beef and Chips" As well as an incident Chris Donald witnessed on a train. Two Geordie kids were squabbling, and one of the dads intervened - to tell his kid "Go oan son, wade in - ah'm reet behind ye".

minato posted:I was gonna post "I bet no-one under 40 gets Viz because it's parodying long-dead kids comics like The Beano, Whizzer & Chips, and The Dandy", only to find that The Beano is still going. No one under 40 reads it because we don't have the attention span to read a 10,000-word comic that is often written phonetically in any of various obscure British dialects I kid, the comics posted here aren't too bad about it and I have two of the Viz collections myself, but I do remember groaning sometimes when I turned the page and it was just a wall of text written exclusively in the Southwest Yorkshire dialect or whatever.

Honestly I would be surprised if Mr. Wilson had not executed a complex charade involving body doubles to protect himself from Dennis' menace at some point.

I feel like we're within only a few years of Dennis vs Dennis. Also apparently part of the inspiration for Bart Simpson was now lame the US Dennis the Menace actually was, and making a kid that was a real menace.

Ghost Leviathan posted:I feel like we're within only a few years of Dennis vs Dennis. Specifically the (I think the 1950s) TV version, which was pretty sanitized. Comic Dennis, particularly in the early days of the strip, could give Bart a run for his money at times. There's one strip I've never seen online, only in one of the old collections, that features Henry getting a rifle out of the closet, and Dennis nonchalantly asking "If it's a burglar, can I have his flashlight?".

This is apparently Applewhite's work, and I feel it accurately describes the other half of webcomics that don't follow the previously posted pattern of a right wing meltdown in the 2010s. (800 comics later)

This is my type of poo poo really. Comic that starts as wacky silly poo poo turns into wacky serious poo poo that's nonsense but makes sense if you've read the previous 2000 pages.

Also the sparkles make the dog girl look drunk af. Also makes me wonder how many comics do the 'Well the fight for the world is over, time to live a mildly supernatural sitcom' thing. Shortpacked?
