Thanos was actually cool in that he just killed everyone in an instant and didn't make us wait months or years for millions of people to die in horrible agony where they were choking on their lungs terrified that this is the last strained breath they'll every take and also they turned into ash instead of in reality where they are horrible heavy rotting leaking corpses that pile up all over the place, which is a pain

I can't imagine how this would be good for their mental health, it seems borderline abusive

How many more signs do you need that God loving hates you? haha. when i heard about notre dame reopening in the fall, i googled “notre dame reopening” and saw an article about notre dame reopening in 2024 and was very confused. my usacentric brain forgot that notre dame cathedral was a thing. i work at a private university. the president sent out an email to returning and incoming students assuring them that campus will reopen in the fall. gotta rake in those tuition dollars before parents realize school isn’t going to reopen and send their kids to a public university instead!! or worse, sue.

Ever wonder how Ring around the Rosie, the plague song, was conceived as a nursery rhyme? It probably wasn't meant to be; it was a pandemic meme that was widely retweeted using whatever equivalent technology of the day. It stuck around because it was so catchy. People kept saying it like some kind of commercial jingle, and it wound its way into becoming a classic rhyme. In a couple generations every nursery school child will be joining hands and doing the same dance for the catchier of our TRUMO *click!* memes and 'Roni memes. Preschool walls painted with catchy generational slogans like "piss tape is real" "all cops are bastards" "stonks make NUMBER go up" will be the norm then

That means that it goes off like a bomb in the right places and doesn't really spread evenly at all when the ingredients aren't right. Here's parts from a good thread on it: I read in a study somewhere that 80% of secondary cases were caused by only 8% of initial cases. IIRC that was the case in the first SARS outbreak too. Most people would spread it to maybe 1 other person, usually someone in their household or to a HCW, but then there would be superspreaders that would spread it to like 80-100 other people. Epidemiologists still don't know if superspreaders are due to different behavior or different physiology (eg viral shedding).

Mission Hospital was the best hospital in western north carolina. After an expansion, when they were vulnerable, BCBS demanded they except lower reimbursements for their patients. This was a teaching hospital that served a very at risk community. Due to that, Mission Hospital Systems were forced to sell to Rick Scott's old Company, HCA. The results have been predictable. I'm sure all of you can just guess the moves that have been made. The nurses are unionizing, supported by the National Nurses Union. Mission hospital itself is trying to fudge the vote. https://twitter.com/asheville/status/1263437400958734339?s=20 Mission wants the union vote to include nurses that don't work at the hospital (lmao what) as well as nurse practitioners and nurse anesthetists. Also, they want the voting to happen in person. During a pandemic. Luckily the NNU is helping coordinate and can threaten an HCA with strikes across the nation but go asheville nurses go
