Bubbacub posted:It's amazing how bland the game looks even when it works. The guns are a just pew pew machine guns like you're flying a Spitfire in space (but like an early variant that doesn't have the 20 mm cannons). Even the ships that are supposed to be impressive like the Idris only have dinky turrets with weak little tracers. Chris Roberts is permanently stuck with the idea that WWII in space is the pinnacle of setting design. He can't imagine anything besides gun turrets and fat torpedoes. “WWII in space but we’re the soft-fascist Space Roman Empire fighting noble space barbarians.” is literally the only creative idea that Chris has ever had. He just keeps trying to express it in new forms, thinking “this time it’s going to be my magnum opus!” He has no understanding that even current day military technology renders that vision completely stupid and outdated, and it’s all coupled with a 10 years old’s knowledge of physics and sci-fi writing. It’s amazing that an idiot like him can fall through the cracks and fail upwards to a 300 million dollar windfall. Just listening to him talk (dead eyes, mouth agape, hands gesticulating wildly, discordant sentence fragments split up by long series of “ahh” and “uhm”) for a few minutes should be enough to dispel any notion that he is competent.

The Expanse combat would be fun but entirely different than Croberts Space Operas. It'd be a game revolving around the evasion dance: avoiding a barrage of enemy PDC/Railgun rounds, giving your PDCs time to shoot down incoming missiles while you evade, and occasionally lining up shots with a railgun. You'd have to change the rest of the mythos though, since engagements literally take weeks to initiate and that would be Croberts level of realism in a game.

Long Term Persistence Tier Consumables will no longer be tracked with Long Term Persistence as a result of changes to how it works. Some other items will also be removed - however a communications post will be coming out soon regarding these changes Stuff like Money will continue to be kept from patch to patch is the long and short of it. Sourced from Baior in ETF Chat Yeah, looks like it will be just consumables that won't go into LTP anymore. Food, drinks, missiles, mags, flares, medpens, oxycans. What are saved-games anyway?
