Apparently Delia negotiated a ton of concessions last night to satisfy the realtors, and they left the table happy, and then in the middle of the night changed their minds and went from neutral to oppose. Their bought legislators are now fighting Delia's bill, and just openly saying on the record that the real estate lobby has told them to vote no.

This is a major, major concession for nothing. loving hell. It went from a 180 moratorium on rents and mortgages to a 60 moratorium on evictions, with a fund that goes directly to the landlords. News of the Day (bad news): -Clay County Chudge ruled that a tanning and hair place is exempt from the SAH order. Once again, he littered his ruling with poo poo about “why can we go to Walmart and not to church?” bullshit. Set up another hearing in June to determine whether his ruling should be state wide. -US District Attorney for Southern Illinois (Trump appointee) filed a letter stating that Bailey’s lawsuit should be placed back in Clay County Chudge’s court instead of federal court. He stated that Pritzker did everything wrong with his SAH after the initial 30 days and everything since then has not been legal. -Edit: Dammit, now all I see from my timeline is people sharing this news and saying how “God is Good” and “Thank you Darren Bailey for loving this state so much”. I do not understand some people. Good News though: -The Senate passed an election omnibus Bill. If you have voted in the last 2 years, you will automatically receive an application for a mail in ballot. If you registered to vote after the primaries, you will receive a mail in ballot. -Election day is now a state holiday. My wife has not voted in the last 2 years but she is already registered to vote. Will she be able to request a mail in ballot too? Listen I know that a lot of the people calling for opening things up are just chuds, but I can also see why some people who are struggling may be switching their opinion. My girlfriend has been forced out of work due to the shutdown for the past 9 weeks. Despite the CARES Act passing nearly 2 months ago, she still hasn't seen a single cent from PUA. This is because Illinois is now one of the last states to pay it out (if they ever do). IDES is a complete disaster with conflicting information and no way to contact a human being. So she's in a position where the state is telling her she can't work and then loving up the program that was supposed to help keep her afloat. This is federal money that the state can't or doesn't want to figure out how to distribute. She's as far left as you can get, but at a point soon where it is be homeless or work and hope you can stay healthy. Neither option is appealing. And she's lucky that there was some savings to dip into. Not a ton because of student loan debt and health insurance premiums. But I can't fathom how any independent contractor living week to week is getting by. Illinois completely hosed over gig workers and independent contractors. If this state cared at all about those people, they'd be demanding Pritzker resign.

Yeah, I dunno the ins and outs of it, but it's definitely a black mark. A shame, too, because I'd argue that - for better or worse - we're up there in overall handling of this thing. I dunno if it stems from the Deloitte fuckup trying to overhaul the system or if it's something else. IDES was always kinda a shitshow, and I think he's on board with fixing it for the future, but yeah - a whole lotta people need this poo poo fixed YESTERDAY. It comes up during almost every Q&A session during his daily briefings, but I can't say I recall any specific answers to that point. I have to imagine that the money will be released and backdated eventually, but that doesn't help right now, of course.

I think W2 folks will get it at some point since they are already in the system and getting paid something. Don't know if they ever get the money to 1099 and self-employed folks though with how terrible the system is. Kind of sucks because it is federal money the state misses out on. The kicker is getting an e-mail that told her that some personal information may have been exposed and to get a free credit report. So no money for 9 weeks and someone may have her SS#. Cool state.

I had a week layoff in January so did my grace period then (lol not like it matters, gently caress me I guess ) and then got laid off in early may and already have the deposit since I was w-2 and in the system My dad and some friends are struggling to do the PUA thing so any info you have would be appreciated. I don't know how you're supposed to submit info of work in 2020 , especially if any of it was the side stuff people tend to not report

I 100% agree that IDES is hosed up and the state has ruined many people’s lives by not being prepared to help those in need. I know it is hard, especially economically and I have several liberal friends that are hitting the same feelings but the people I am thinking of are the ones who, from the beginning, downplayed everything. They took it seriously only when Trump did for a week or so. Then it became Chinese conspiracies, Bill Gates and the numbers are lying. Then it became “cure worse then the disease”. Now it is, Darren Bailey is here to save the state and he can do no wrong. I am wanting to open up, especially for those in need who have been failed by the state systems.

You can also try Durbin or Duckworth’s offices they might have some tips as well.

She isn't the only one in the position. Illinois is just not set up to pay 1099 people now. People she worked with are all in the same boat. One had to pack up and move back to Michigan to his parents house because he couldn't pay rent and utilities. State left a lot of people out to dry.

So the Dems are trying to get opponents for the two mask refusers in the General Assembly. The guy who had to be escorted from the floor, Darren Bailey, has a potential challenger but she needs signatures to get on the ballot. If you live in his district (109, check here) and are a registered Dem voter at your current address and you voted from there in 2018 or 2020, see if you can’t attend a petition signing to get Cynthia Given on the ballot. May 26th 9-noon in Newton across from Crain funeral home Also one in Fairfield from 3-6 in Leo French Memorial Park May 27th 3-6 Olney TaikwonDo Center May 28th Robinson City Park in Robinson 3-6 Louisville 166 S Church St 3-6 Carmi Carmi Tarkwondo Center 4-7 Brad Halbrook also has a potential challenger in Mitchell Esslinger who is collecting signatures in District 102. Halbrook is another Republican anti-mask, antivax, general shithead who’s never had a Dem challenger. 102 encompasses southwest Champaign on the far side of 57, parts of south Savoy, St. Joe, other smaller towns southeast south and southwest of Champaign-Urbana in Champaign county. You can see a full map here There will be a drive thru petition signing at Porter Park in SW Champaign Tuesday the 26th from 4-6pm. More are likely coming as well. You can find both on Facebook. I think the pandemic has made the relationship between northern and central/southern IL even more toxic which is hard to imagine. Tensions between rural and urban areas are pretty normal and understandable but IL is like currently in some hellworld where there is just this real visceral contempt for anything and anyone in the Chicago Metro area from downstate and like the perception that downstate is like illiterate peasants shoveling piles of poo poo between fields. Heard a guy saying his county has only suffered one death and to "let them die up there and let us open up down here." Like I feel like IL used to be able to at least come together to collectively poo poo on Indiana and how much we all hated Rauner. The balkanization and enmity seems extreme in this state and it seems to just be getting worse. Don't really know what the solution is either. The state is just such a mess and every loving thing feels broken and it feels like the spirit of Illinois is just completely in the shitter. Hopefully things will get better soon but alot of people are going through hell.

The sentiment has been there for decades, but since 2016 talking with no filter has been normalized and it's having a genuine impact on the ability for any two people with different opinions to work together. Stir in a crisis that needs immediate attention and poo poo is gonna get real ugly.

Alot of it was more complaining more than any real conviction. At the very least I've never heard anyone basically be upfront with being cool with people in Chicago dying of the virus. It exists certainly in other states and places but Illinois I think has it worse/more intense than many other states. I used to live in Upstate NY and like the worst I'd hear is "NYC is totally ignoring us." There's really no great time for a pandemic to occur, but this could not have come at a worse time. Hope everyone stays good out there.
