It's not exactly limited to just here. Yeah it's encouraging to see her at least getting ratio'd. How long before Laura and the other Beeb accounts turn off replies on stuff like this?

I think Cummings will go, without admitting any wrong doing but with the weasel words we've seen before of "having become a distraction". then be back in a couple of years. plus ça change Stephen Bush makes a good point about not everything always splitting public opinion on tribal party lines. https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/staggers/2020/05/did-dominic-cummings-break-lockdown-and-will-he-have-resign quote:Social media is not a representative sample, but what would trouble me were I Cummings is it seems to me that the most sympathetic people are other parents with young children, who tended not to vote Conservative at the last election, while the least sympathetic are adults who are a little older, who are perhaps themselves worried about not seeing a parent, or who have been unable to say goodbye to parents or relatives due to the lockdown, or have been unable to see their own grandchildren. It is those slightly older parents, and grandparents who have been unable to get out, who are the bedrock of the Tory coalition: and if the interpretation of Cummings’ behaviour splits not on party lines but life experiences, then the Prime Minister may need a new strategic advisor sooner rather than later.

I still think he will stay. The media will spin this as hard as they can because he's seen as the leader of the entire brexit/bojo project. It is going to piss off a lot of people though. I'm thinking of the "Monty Don welling up on TV because he hasn't been able to see his grandson" demographic which I don't think the government can afford to alienate in the long run. But they've got 5 years before the next election. Even Gove is circling the waggons, for now. And he's got the most interest in the end of the Johnson project. https://twitter.com/michaelgove/status/1264126108733186050

Yeah it sounds familiar. My lower school was nominally Christian. The Headteacher would read bible stories like the widow's mote to us. And the Lord's Prayer was embroidered and framed by the exit to the main hall. But the embroider did a really fancy capital G for God that made the terminal line all wiggly and made it look more like a hosed up S so when I first read it as a young child I said "and love of Sod, Amen" and my dear mother had to hurriedly correct me for those within earshot. She didn't look around first because she knew that's how the salt pillar gets ya.

Is there a silver lining to the near certainty that nothing will come of this? Johnson has the chance to be resolute and decisive, and instead this failure of leadership and “one set of rules for us and another for them” will be brought up again and again. Probably also feature in the eventual inquiry about poor and confusing messaging.
