Trying to trigger a bunch of different memory cues might explain why it's a mash of different time periods. One of the reply chains talks about that, recognizable things are super useful for Alzheimer's patients having bad episodes, otherwise they'll just be confused and upset. Might not be what this one's for, but there's some nursing homes designed with this in mind. Also, apparently some nursing homes have fake bus stops outside, basically as traps for Alzheimer's patients that go wandering. Which is throwing me for a loop right now, because in retrospect I've been to retirement villages and nursing homes with bus stops that I never saw a bus stop at.

Might not be what this one's for, but there's some nursing homes designed with this in mind. The independent living part of the old folks home where I do ambulance stuff was deliberately designed to be difficult to navigate so that if someone does start developing dementia they can’t get out as easily. It’s a pain in the rear end when I have to walk 3/4ths of a mile to get to a patient’s apartment but it works, they’ve had a bunch of people who they’ve had to step up into memory care but none of them have made it outside. E: a basement town would kick six kinds of rear end with everything locked down though.

One of those HGTV shows that tells you how much your reno added to the value of your home had something like this except it was (I think?) supposed to be New Orleans in their basement. Spoiler alert: it did not make their home more valuable.

So the mommy vlogger who documented and monetized on Youtube her process of adopting and raising an autistic orphan toddler from China only to discover she couldn’t handle it, resulting in a tearful confession of having to “re-home” the boy with another family has decided to post through it. https://mobile.twitter.com/wyatt_privilege/status/1266060211007127553
