According to the government's own bullshit figures, 412 people died of corona yesterday. Loosening the lockdown now is premature and will kill a lot of people, and it's so goddamn transparent that it's just being done to take the spotlight off Dominic Cummings.

It's insane that they're not even waiting to see what opening schools does to the transmission rate before pressing ahead with this. 200,000 dead by the end of summer?

Presumably with infection being so widespread and the 2 week delay the next peak is going to be higher than the first, depending on how many people stay at home anyway.

Exercise outside instead. If it's the awkward eye contact with strangers you miss from the gym just go and stand by a set of traffic lights maybe

I'm working through the big PHE stats release and there is some crazy stuff in there. https://assets.publishing.service.g...y_w22_Final.pdf -London antibody surveilance indicates 14.8% of the greater London population has already had the virus. -BME groups have 50% higher rates of infection than white and much much much worse clinical outcomes. -There was a two week period in the middle of April where 70-80% of the tests on people aged 70+ were coming back positive. Remember how they turfed all the elderly people out of hospitals at the end of March without tests or PPE for staff? Yeah loving look at that mass of care home outbreaks while they were supposed to be 'shielding.'

Been having a "fun" disagreement today on another forum that I can't stop touching the poop in, where the consensus is that "kicking the marxists out" of Labour is a desirable thing and Labour is fundamentally incompatible with Marxism. My quoting Keir Hardie's praise for Marx hasn't done much to sway anyone. It's always a blast to see how liberals think. Exhausting, though.

On posting on FB about England telling cancer, asthma and other people they were no longer going to be considered special and food parcels would cease (article in Graun - phone posting so can't link) person on my Friends comments 'they can shop online'. Well maybe a few could but many are elderly, don't have internet or smart phones, delivery slots are hard to get. Naturally this person showing so much empathy is a Tory. (My mum for one can't shop online because she has a hand tremor that makes it almost impossible to get a cursor in a box - she's ended up accidentally buying double coach tickets etc when she's tried.)

There might be some work appearing soon that will mean I can come back to work from furlough then but as it stands I have been given 2 months' notice. This is likely to be happening to everyone who works here. I expected this as there is no work to do apart from a skeleton crew so there is no money to pay for even a 20% contribution. I suspect this is deliberate to force people out of work onto UC and that later they will revert the furlough scheme to its original form but disqualify us from being brought back onto furlough. Man that sucks I hope you land on your feet. I've been hearing rumblings that a lot of commerical property leases are due on July 1st and most businesses are going to just say gently caress it. I fear this means a lot of businesses are at risk of closing up shop: warnergoodman.co.uk posted:Currently, from 26 March 2020 until 30 June 2020, the ability to forfeit a commercial lease for non-payment of the rent has been suspended by the Government following the passing of the Coronavirus Act 2020. You cannot therefore take the usual steps to evict your tenant at present. However, from 1 July 2020, unless the Government guidance changes, you will be able to forfeit the lease and recover the property from this point. I don't know if this has come up during PMQs or some poo poo but the news that Brexit is going full steam ahead and complete lack of confidence in this current government will sink us even further unfortunately.
