Saw a couple people on Unicorn Riot and on Twitter make a point I was worried about - so many of these protesters have been breathing in lung irritants and noxious substances, not just from the Auto Zone yesterday, but by throwing in plastics and other stuff onto bonfires. SO many of them aren't wearing even cloth masks, much less actual respirators with P100 filters that would protect them from at least some of the fumes. One of the guys on Unicorn Riot was saying essentially "these people are understandably angry, but they are burning noxious poo poo and they're breathing it in, during a pandemic that preys largely on minorities and poor, and is a respiratory disease. It's not the cops lungs that are gonna be effected. Be smarter." I really hope these people don't get lung damage, and I really hope they don't get Covid on top of that. Lots of people almost died when a telephone pole with power lines was on fire, too. 7 shot, 1 critically wounded in Louisville protest after unknown suspect opened fire on crowd. https://www.wdrb.com/news/lmpd-7-pe...682949e7c2.html There's video out there (now taken down on Twitter, can't find it now) of cops rendering aid to two protesters who were shot, looked like a leg and maybe chest/arm wound on one of the victims. Unclear who opened fire. My guess is white supremacist / boogaloo boy taking the opportunity to try to kill some black folks and cops at the same time. Cops are, of course, saying that none of their officers opened fire. I'd say its too early to tell. Could've been a trigger happy piece of poo poo cop. Gonna be a while before we know what happened.

In light of the whole 'why riot?', reminder that the initially peaceful protests on the first day were almost immediately met with tear gas and pepper spray. There's not much room to keep things civil if the authorities start ratcheting up the tension and attack demonstrators.

The whole thing is just embarrassing to a point where it's almost beyond words. You can't even say "the goal posts are being moved" anymore, because that would imply there is still a single goal in one position at any given time. The constant rationalization of Trump's erratic statements and policies is more akin to quantum principles. There may be goal posts on the field, but if - at all - and where they are depends on whether someone is actually looking at them. You can also only either tell which position they're in, or at what speed they're moving, but never both. Basically...Schrödinger's goal posts.
