As one of those modernist assholes, I've always liked the era. I'm a designer what can I say I do have a weak spot for Mexican crafts so there's a lot of that mixed into my mid-century furniture. Visuals work best for this thread so here's me in my Selig egg chair with my doggo.

It's just too dark, there's really what it is. the paint on the wall and some of the cabinets looks like it's in the 20-30 LRV range.

I shamefully admit I watch Billions (even though, you know, kill all billionaires), and prada's stool was featured. But also this lovely blu dot lamp. https://www.bludot.com/note-table-lamp.html I have also decided that I do in fact want something in the bedroom corner so here you go. More just to point at the wall as it's quite bright (my secret hack is to put a white piece of paper over the light, or blue for blue light ) you can by the piece of paper at DWR for $500

It's definitely an overall improvement: I still like the suggestions other people have had of moving the TV and subwoofer to the left, so they aren't blocking the window and fireplace. However, looking at that floor plan, I guess that might not line up with the couch. Still, it's something you could try pretty quickly without having to change out any furniture.

I feel like vague tropical themes are kind of all over music videos in the past few years too? I don’t know if this has anything to do with the history of the pineapple as a decorative item and ostentatious display of wealth being a viral topic but that’s what it makes me think of https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/65506/super-luxe-history-pineapples-and-why-they-used-cost-8000
