There's a document somewhere in the game about how the bureau values certain anxiety disorders in employees, because they indicate paranatural attunement.

I want to avoid nod-nod-wink-winking the future of my own LP too much, but this is a good thing to keep in mind in connection with Dr. Ash's pet theory about the significance of synchronicity. Millions of people around the world experience behaviors that don't make logical sense, but they can neither explain why they do them nor force themselves to stop, and attempting to correct the behaviors can cause extreme distress. What if they're doing it because everyone else is doing it?

That sort of thing is exactly why I love this game, and the world they built. I'm intrigued by the Dr. Ash stuff, considering the story that they basically tell with Northmoor

Though I can't speak that authoritatively to deep meanings of the late game stuff, as I'm only (actual spoilers) just wrapping up the main quest, though I just finally beat that fucker Tommasi for the second time, and did the side quest with Hideo Kojima's cameo.

By the way, thanks for doing this LP! I'm really enjoying each installment. I'm (again, actual spoilers) super intrigued to see more of the side stuff that you explore, like the Mold threshold, and the hidden stuff littered throughout.

Cute but fanged
One bit on Poets of the Fall, they've been working with Remedy for a while (they did "Late Goodbye" from Max Payne 2, which is when I got into them) and they've done a bunch of songs as "Old Gods of Asgard" which you may recall from Alan Wake and also one memorable sequence in this game. The test room song/album cover is a real world title of theirs.

It's also a great meta joke - licensing issues with the Poets of the Fall song in Alan Wake meant that they had to stop selling it*, so naturally in their next game they go and put a room that has nothing except a Poets of the Fall song :allears:

There's also a menu option specifically for muting copyrighted music in the game so that people can post videos without falling afoul of Youtube (or Twitch's) copyright policies. I have no idea what becomes of the Acoustics Studies lab if you do that, but I assume that most of the game becomes a lot less interesting.

There are a lot of parts of the FBC that could be considered the nerve center of the operation - Central Executive, Ahti's office, whatever the heck Dr. Darling's hiding... heck, even the Research Sector as a whole. But the nerve center of the human body is the brain, and that's intricately tied to the mind, in the same way that the heart could be said to be related to the soul or a Participation ribbon relates to the persistent, hollow sense of failure that plagues your entire existence. Today, we'll be looking into how the FBC studies the mind - not so much the things that the mind can do, but the mind itself, as an entity. It's all a means to an end, of course, but in the same way that you can write better programs the more you understand about how a computer works. Psychology is kind of an antithesis to me personally, seeing as how I seem to have made it my life's purpose to defy every conclusion that a psychologist has ever reached, but I can't argue with the importance of the Parapsychology department, nor with the rewards it contains. My favorite ability in the game is just around the corner. There are just a few minor... inconveniences along the way, shall we say?

That page more or less confirms my math, too. I calculated that the probability of a score of 9 or more correct out of 25, with no actual psychic factors involved, is about 6.7%, just too high to be statistically significant.

Ooh, this is interesting. I hadn't considered taking that close a look at the X-ray. I'll see what I can do about getting a better look at it. Worst case, I make another account on the PS4, power through to that point, and capture a better image.

EDIT: I've done what I could with the frame from the raw video and added the result to the Documents list. I don't know anything about MRIs and don't expect I'll be able to learn enough to make a useful statement about the report, but from what I can tell, it's all actual MRI terminology.

While watching that video I recalled that pre-order costume you got, I think it was reltated to this department. Incidentally it seems like the player could already visit the astral plane without the need of the Lightbox, so that certainly says a lot about how powerful she is.

Jesse doesn't have any ability to travel to the Astral Plane voluntarily, per se. That's just the link between the Objects of Power that she binds and the Board, as referenced in one of Emily Pope's reports. The X-Ray Lightbox seems to be unique in allowing people to enter the Astral Plane without binding it, but it seems like anyone capable of binding any Object of Power should experience the same effect.

SPACE FACE! SPACE FACE!

I had no idea what that poo poo meant so I looked a bunch of it up; as Nido said the text means almost nothing. It's all things like the echo/repeat time of the scan, thickness of "slices", the contrasting agent, etc. It's all meta info about how the scan was taken with no info about what's actually in it. I looked at some "abnormal" CT scans and compared but the level of detail present in the image isn't high enough to really tell, it looks pretty normal.

It's been a long time, hasn't it? Stuff has been going on in my life as well as in the outside world, and I've been trying to do something a little extra to go along with the LP, with little success so far. Fortunately, I think I know why that is, and it will work better after this video than before it, anyway. So, hopefully, I'll be able to get that done without too much more trouble. Meanwhile, I think we've left Marshall waiting for backup long enough, don't you?

I hope nobody thought I'd forgotten about this LP. I've just been tied up trying to do something a bit special, but it hasn't come together yet, so I'm just going to move on and, if it ever gets made, stick it in the appropriate position in the playlist. For now, I'm just going to wrap up the loose ends in the Research Sector before moving on with the story. I feel like the Guided Imagery Therapy should be more profound than I found it, but maybe it needs to be experienced directly. However, I find the bottom of Central Research much more interesting, for numerous reasons.

Close: it's "saiaku" (最悪), "worst" or "most terrible," etc. "Grave" is the perfect translation; the little pun is just a bonus.

The translation was excellent overall, and as a translator, I appreciate that the English was correctly attributed to an interpreter (who works with the spoken word) and not a translator (who works with the written word).

I just wish they subtitled the Threshold Kids episodes. Something about the voices they use for it makes them hard to understand what they're saying sometimes. Like, the developers did a good job with subtitling the rest of the dialog, but why would they hate the hearing-impaired players enough to deny them Threshold Kids?

Maybe I'm just going crazy then, I went and rewatched it in the video and it's definitely there. Though the opening theme being subtitled too would have been nice, at least once because I dunno if it's just their "fake kid voice" or what but I literally only understand the words "Threshold Kids" in it. (I could just have some kind of undiagnosed auditory processing issue or something because there are also times that I can be on the phone and just Not Understand what the other person is saying.)
