The government felt it was better to give trillions to companies that have no problem letting their employees starve or ride unemployment pine than to put money in the hands of the people, who would have spent it buying poo poo to keep the economy afloat. I would argue that, as the protests now are showing, attacking the police power is a more effective way to undermine the entrenched power inequality in the system. Every protest will have to have this level of escalation or worse until the issues if the police are addressed effectively (not saying solved, just addressed to be less of an issue) When the police feel safe murdering in the street like that, and opening fire on reporters unprovoked, there is little reason to expect them to not be willing to open fire on a crowd.

A clumsy analogy, but at this point the protests are about George Floyd the same way WWI was about Franz Ferdinand. And I mean that as a positive. This is an outpouring of rage about a system that fucks anyone not in the top 10% and white. I've said it before, but even the most woke white person doesn't care about a black guy being killed this much. So "stop killing minorities, you pig fucks" is the top note, but there is a massive pile of stuff under it.
