i'm getting the feeling that the big democrat governors started calling each other after the conference call with Trump today when they realized he was ready to go into a full religious civil war to stop the protests CNN was ready to roll with anti-trump comments, and had Priztker and Cuomo ready to give short speeches about how a peaceful compromise to the protests was possible. finally the head of NAACP said that suburban white trust democrats more to reach a solution to this. It was a pitch to elements of the ruling and middle class against Trumps call to mobilize the military and CHUDs. I also wonder if the lack of Newsom coverage is partly national democrats getting worried that California might get separatist aspirations if the leadership there leads any anti-Trump force.

Went looking for news on the whole uprising situation, checked the Guardian. Their liveblog has a rundown of each city and the violence, don't see mine, huh funny, city hall burned. Then I see the reference to Vegas, which I hadn't heard about, click and it's a redirect to Slack. Turns out half the links are. Send it to a friend who works in media/transparency NGOs abroad, and he explains it's probably some exhausted intern or reporter dragging links out of an internal slack and not checking the links before hitting publish. Then explains that pretty much the entire non-English speaking world put specific media carveouts in their bailouts to account for the crash in business ads. US and UK have not, so... Basically there is no non-cable news service. To the extent anyone would consider cable news news. Guess it's time to brush up on my Hangukuh and get news about my own country from the Dong-A Ilbo.
