I think they maaaaaaay now say "you know what lets not lift the covid restrictions" as today was the NSW first day of lifting them and simultaneously they're getting police brutality protests. And it will be effective because well i'm literally sitting at home as I have been for months now as I can't risk exposure to covid.

Reading the CSPAM riot threads, the US is approaching 25% unemployment, with 50% unemployment for those under 45.

Also, that $1200 cheque (which got delayed so Trump could put his name on it) was a one-off deal and the poorest people weren't eligible for it in the first place.

Now, add to that, schools and universities are still closed and you have ALL the youngest sections of society with no money and nothing to distract them. Many riots die down once people have to go back to work.

Now people have no jobs, no money and the rich and powerful are just rubbing the salt into their wounds that they mean nothing to them.

Add to that, you have Trump sitting in the white house basement in a diaper full of piss, with the lights off upstairs being mocked and desperate to play the tough man.

It's a perfect storm of hosed up.

Not surprised to see LaTrobe uni completely up poo poo creek.

My impression from my time there was that they were cramming in totally unsuitable international students far more than either of the other two universities I've been at, and despite that they were still losing money and trying to restructure. I think their first attempt at a restructure was a bit of a flop too (although that was finalised a little while after I left), and had to be followed up with Restructure II: Restructure Harder lol

They also gutted a bunch of departments and now they seem to be confused as to why domestic students don't want to go there. I'm sure sacking more staff will improve the situation.

"There were probably other ways that the officer could have dealt with that matter, no doubt," Commissioner Fuller told 2GB's Ben Fordham on Wednesday morning. "We do train to use leg sweeps as a tactic, so that is something that we can use. But of course, this is a case of two things: is it reasonable for a person to swear and threaten a police officer? And is the force the officer used reasonable? These are a couple of things that are a live issue at the moment for us." Commissioner Fuller accepted that the officer, who had a "clean record" during a three-and-a-half year career with NSW Police, was not in any danger at the time and he held concerns about the officer's conduct. "Not for one minute am I sitting here saying the officer's actions were correct. The focus is on whether the force was excessive or not," Commissioner Fuller said. The police's internal Professional Standards Command are investigating the incident and a criminal investigation into the boy's alleged conduct continues, although Commissioner Fuller said he did not expect the officer would lose his job. If the complaints are sustained against him, you would have to say that he's had a bad day. I'm sure most of the community wouldn't want to see someone sacked after making such a commitment to the community."

Hold the gently caress up money bags, I want him sacked. I also think the criminal investigation should be into him and the actions of the two other officers who aided and abetted him in an unprovoked assault on a minor. Also note worthy is the assault happened during recon loving ciliation week. A week where police should reflect upon their relations with indigenous Australians by tazing themselves repeatedly in the genitals while sitting in the back of an unventilated truck bouncing along a desert road in extreme heat. If the season makes the temperature too mild then consideration should be given to setting fire to the truck.

In no way wishing to trivialise the need for mental health care for first responders, but, one can't help but think the sessions for police might go something like this:

"Well based on my professional assessment you are a psychopath with no hope of redemption. Embrace it?"
