You know this character is dumb because they misspell words that they're saying aloud.

I can’t help but wonder if Lester used “simp” as an edgy way to sneak an alt-right term into a mainstream comic. He seems like exactly the rear end in a top hat to both use the term and to gleefully sneak it in.

Maybe I’m paranoid, but always more, always worse, etc.

Oh drat, Mike Lester's only 65 years old. I thought he was older than that, and the promise of his imminent transformation into worm food and fertilizer was a gentle ray of hope that brought me a small amount of comfort in these dark times.

He might be my least favourite guy in this thread. Others may be more hateful and more idiotic, but he's a special blend of profoundly stupid and hideously nasty with a generous helping of unearned smugness that just makes him especially detestable, for me at least.

Ugh, insomnia strikes again. I read that whole thing about mental health as a joke the first time around because of how patently ludicrous it is.

Sailors' mental health in the days of sail? Long months away from land in cramped, leaking quarters, living on hard tack that was best eaten in the dark so you couldn't see the wiggling? Be part of a world exploration crew that left home port crambed to the the gunnels with men because they expected to lose two thirds of them to disease and accident? Your employer discouraging a knowledge of swimming so you were more likely to stay on the ship? Your employer "recruiting" you through kidnapping by an armed group of men?

I agree, I don't think mental health was a concern.

The one genuinely funny thing about Mike Lester's cartoons is that it really does feel like he spends a lot of time carefully thinking out this stupid dialogue.
So many of them are these ridiculously overworked comebacks and gotchas in response to something that no-one would ever say and it conjures up images of a real life George Costanza furiously rubbing his two brain cells together to formulate a lethal, incisive ice burn that definitely isn't a preschool level insult.

I bet he wins so many imaginary arguments in his head.

Fun fact: when the youth house, which was a place for anarchists and leftists and punks in general, in Copenhagen was demolished (a fun story...), the local McDonald's went out of business. For all their good intentions, the punks managed to keep a symbol of capitalism afloat. Luckily, the new place only has locally owned fast food nearby.

I don't have a point, except that capitalism is super pervasive, and also bad.

Roughly 5,000 individuals, a combination of individuals, partners in the major Wall Street firms including particularly Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and JPMorgan, and associated lawyers and others engaged in the global ecology of naked short selling and money laundering – both federal crimes – are now subject to discovery and criminal forfeiture of all assets purchased with illicit wealth.

In the United Kingdom “unexplained wealth” is now subject to investigation and discovery by the National Crime Agency. The USA needs a similar project. To take one example, all of the vacant luxury condominiums in New York City are immediately confiscatable by criminal forfeiture once the illicit provenance of the funds used to buy these asset can be established.

The President of the United States of America has been briefed on the depth and breadth of all data now stored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and is also aware of what could be discovered within a very short time through a complete audit of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).

The fact that the President has War Powers is a bonus. Wall Street criminals and their clients have nowhere to run. It is immediately possible for the President to execute a squeeze and come away with no less than $100 trillion dollars in confiscations of criminally-derived assets, both to make reparations to all the pension funds and individual investors cheated by Wall Street; and to fund the re-building of America by restoring the wealth stolen from Main Street by Wall Street, back to Main Street.

In Garrison's mind, Big Daddy Trump has already made more progress in doing that then every other president in history combined.
It's just that the rascally deep state keeps filling it back up, and even the strongest daddy is just one man.

Anyhoo, I was wondering how Ben Garrison was going to rationalize Trump extending the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act and continuing the unconstitutional big government surveillance of freemen-on-the-land, my guess was that he'd just ignore it forever, but I did not expect "well...for all we know he could be listening to all our phone calls in order to take down Wall Street!" as if that's a good reason to surveil literally everyone else.

Also lol at Garrison endlessly complaining about QE and artificially pumped-up markets and predicting financial collapse, then wailing about short sellers when stocks dip just a little bit
