But I’m not a violence addicted authoritarian thug so what would I know. After the Chaser APEC stunt the NSW police chief said that Chaser were lucky not to have been shot by snipers, which made me think police are not very good at recognising and categorising threats.

If the cops stayed away it would be a lot easier to maintain social distancing, and far less risk of violence too

It's a shame the government is being caught completely by surprise regarding police brutality and abuses of power and institutional racism. If only this was a subject they'd been made aware of, multiple times, over the course of literal years, and not something Australians are randomly 'importing from the US' on a whim. Maybe if they'd had some forewarning, they could have taken some actions to diffuse the need for people to protest during a pandemic. Which they surely would have done, if only they'd known.

The journalist who had her eye burst open by a rubber bullet and the little kid shot with one in the head and you can see the bone of their skull are going to stay with me for a long time. But so glad the usual succlibs took the time to post in this thread to make sure we don't hurt the cops' feelings. Nothing more important than decorum. NSW is waiting on the supreme court but the cops want it made illegal and will be fining people in groups over 500 Vicpol have said they'll fine the organisers and "other persons" (no idea wtf that means) after the event, but not on the day, if over 20 people attend SA is explicitly good to go ahead No idea about other states

This is a near perfect demonstration of ACAB. A bad cop assaults and nearly murders a defenseless person (who was trying to help them btw). When a "good" cop moves to assist the man he is physically held and dissuaded from the action by another cop. 20 odd other cops walk past the dying man while one of their number suppresses and man handles the press who are recording the crime. The cops involved go on to report the assault as a "tripping incident". If you don't understand ACAB after seeing this video then you are probably fash.

7.56pm NSW Supreme Court refuses permission for Black Lives Matter protest in Sydney By Laura Chung and Michaela Whitbourn NSW Supreme Court Justice Desmond Fagan has ruled tomorrow's Black Lives Matter protest in Sydney will not go ahead. In a hearing that stretched for more than four hours, Justice Fagan said the social distancing measures imposed to date have been "the key element" in stopping the spread of COVID-19, thus allowing the protest to go ahead at this time is "an unreasonable proposition". Justice Fagan added that many forms of public gatherings had been restricted, including funeral services which loved ones had not been able to attend. Justice Fagan added the right to gather for such a cause is not being "taken away", it is being "deferred".
