Lots of Outkast vibes in the EarthGang album from last year, give that spin (hard to compete with the greats though)

Also Big Boi's solo album Sir Luscious Leftfoot is a must listen if you haven't already

This fate was always gonna happen. Culture was their zenith. The biggest surprise is that Offset is the breakout star more so than Quavo. I mean, I know part of that is because of Cardi. But still, I thought Quavo was gonna be BIG.

Unrelated to Migos, it’s been like.... almost a decade and this song still loving rips: https://youtu.be/0JMW_XXCvd8

You've got plenty of suggestions already but Channel Orange by Frank is way more upbeat and funky than Blonde and prob more in line with the vibe you're going for. Maybe some Lizzo too if you don't mind going a bit more pop?

Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but just for discussions sake:

Oddisee and some of the Roots albums, although they may be a bit more jazzy

Loaf Muzik

YONAS - a bit more fusion with EDM, but I enjoy it as feel good/work out stuff. Particularly some of the mix tape stuff with popular songs at the time.

Believe it or not Asher Roth (yeah the I love college guy) just dropped a new album a few weeks ago called Flowers on the Weekend. Definitely some funk to it, but may not be your cup of tea.

Check out G Perico, his sound is very early 90's California rap and probably right up this alley

Old Town Road to EGOT

Alright, I listened to RTJ4 again on a better system (with a nicer sub) and followed along with the lyrics. Really like that beat switchup in Holy Calamafuck. Walking in the Snow goes hard. JU$T is the best track on here.

Look at all these slave masters posin' on yo dollar
The flows are solid. Like I'll think El-P has a great flow on one track, then Killer Mike will have a great flow on the next track.

The beats just aren't as catchy as previous albums, though :( 2 and 3 definitely have this beat for me. I've gotta listen to 1 again but I'm pretty sure that does too. So it's the weakest of the bunch but not a bad album. I just wish it had fresher beats that made it feel more cohesive because there are some good bars on here.

I still enjoy the Migos but with how weird time feels with all the heavy poo poo going on and them dropping like 7 projects between 2017 and 2019, it is like they never even gave me time to miss them. Now I guess Culture 3 might drop soon too?

They spread themselves out way too thin. Culture 2 had some good stuff on it but it was also extremely bloated with unnecessary tracks. There was no reason other than greed (streaming numbers) to have an album that long. Their solo material ranged from pretty bad - meh. Their features on tracks also got worse over time too.

They definitely needed to take some sort of break, I haven't heard any of their new stuff they've been dropping because of that fatigue.

We'll always have culture 1 and the original mixtapes.

The sound was bound to get old quickly.

I had some hope for Quavo continuing to be a hook based artist with a decent career but it was super shocking that Offset was the guy that took off big-time.
