I know he drops his bazooka and busted shield vs Gyunei and makes Gyunei hesitate for a second and that's what gets him, but I'm pretty sure he does the rotating thing earlier versus him.

I’ve spent a couple days loving around on the internet and haven’t had too much luck, but is there a good resource for finding the English releases of Gundam manga? I have the Gundam Thunderbolt volumes, but I was wondering what else is out there I can track down.

I don't know about the 90 degree bit, and don't see anything that stands out as that when he's fighting Gyunei but yeah, Amuro dropping his shield and bazooka to distract Gyunei for a second and then using that hesitation to shoot him is great. Amuro is quite a tricky fighter in Char's Counterattack, and uses dummy balloons as a distraction several times, as another instance, throwing out 3 of them while close to an opponent to distract or overwhelm them.

I think you can get Haro as an assistant but I don't believe Haro is ever a pilot, and there's no giant Haro shenanigans anywhere in Dynasty Warriors Gundam. Or Gundam Breaker for that matter.

Still not quite sure I got the scene you're thinking of but Amuro is basically playing a VR shooter while everyone else is still playing with twin sticks. Everyone else is basically looking at what they're shooting at and orienting their MS to face it a lot of the time. To be fair, Judau just went and hijacked the Zeta Gundam and doesn't really have much of a clue how to actually pilot the thing for the first several episodes, while Mashymre's a giant himbo. Also, I think Yazan actually did get some brain damage? He spent quite a bit of time drifting in his pod and it ran dangerously low on oxygen before it managed to get to Shangri-La.

From Hathaway's perspective, Chan busted in and totally ruined his attempt to stop Quess from fighting peacefully, then fired a missile at the Alpha Azieru that would have caught him int he blast if Quess hadn't thrown him to the side and took the hit. From his perspective, she wasn't a concerned adult trying to help him, she was a murdering rear end in a top hat who killed Quess and could have possibly killed him in the process. It certainly doesn't help that this is all occurring in the middle of a giant space war where lovely adults are fighting over literally destroying the planet.

Just ducking in to say I've started watching Gundam for the first time from the beginning. Finished 0079 and Zeta, just started ZZ and it already seems like a bit of a tonal shift 4 eps in. I may post here as I watch further, trying to avoid spoilers I guess.

I just watched ZZ a couple weeks ago and thought it got good basically as soon as they got to Earth. The roughest stretch was eps ~10-20 because you trade goofy Mashmyre for creeplord Glemy, but the show is still mostly a slapstick comedy for another ten episodes. Also maid Chara plotline and Moon Moon. Blegh. I think it's worth powering through because the middle of ZZ is awesome, The ending is also mostly great, but I have some bigger hangups with it. Namely they did Ple dirty by having her suicide bomb the Psycho Gundam and turn into a personality-less robot ghost. And bringing back Leina out of nowhere like that just sucks. She barely even shows up again and Judao fucks off to Jupiter anyway in the end. I don't know why they sabotaged one of the dramatic high points of the show and a big part of Judao's character development like that.
