while that guy I mentioned earlier trying to snitch on me was incorrect - I'm not a drug dealer - many years ago I was. In 2016 I was raided by the DEA because I really did get snitched on. [note: this is all outside the statute of limitations now, it is not dangerous for me to talk about, it's just stories from my past]. They got me with 400 hits of LSD, a bunch of DMT, weed, adderall, wippits, and almost $2000. They came at me with a literal swat team. I have never owned a gun nor been involved in any violent incident nor had any criminal record of any kind. At the time I was a doctoral student studying music. I am also white, just for context. When they pulled up on my I was in my front yard - four SUVs with black-tinted windows pulled up on me literally inches away from me and a bunch of guys with 'DEA' on their vests, wearing full riot gear, carrying assault rifles pointed at me screaming at me.

Anyway, I'm going to skip past a lot of this story because it's not relevant, but, the weirdest thing about this day was this: they didn't arrest me. They read my rights and took a bunch of pictures of me and poo poo. They took all my drugs and money except the weed and wippits, which they said "we don't give a gently caress about this" about. They left me, my dad(who just happened to be there when this happened ) and my wife (who married me AFTER this, by the way), just sitting there shell shocked. I did not tell them anything or snitch on anyone that day. They did take my phone though.

So, they tried to make me give up my sources, etc. They told me they would put my dad and wife - who had nothing to do with it, by the way - in prison for 20 years if I didn't. For weeks after this raid they would come by randomly and try to get information out of me. While this was happening, I randomly wound up becoming aware of a pedophile in my area. I was at a coffee shop with a friend, and a friend of hers came in who I didn't know, and we're just bullshitting and the topic of who we know in common in town comes up, and then creepy people in town. I asked if they knew one person who had at one point tried to assault my wife some time ago. He replied that he had actually seen him a couple weeks prior to that, and went into a story - he meant this to be a funny story - about how he had been at his house, doing drugs - meth, from the context, but I didn't ask - and this dude went on a beer run. Knowing this guy is a creep, he snoops on his computer to see what kind of freaky porn is on there.

He found a giant trove of child porn. Mind you, this guy is telling me this story as if it is funny, like 'haha yea this dude's a total creep right?'. I asked, did you call the police or anything? And he replied no, he was there banging drugs, he's not gonna call the cops. This person in question has two young children under the age of 8 and a lot of video equipment. It was as bad a situation as it could possibly be.

A little later when I was home I called the agent on my case and told him we had to meet immediately, that night if possible. They came the next day, I wrote a statement about all of this. The weirdest thing to me about this was that the cops were clearly annoyed at this. They HAD to do something. And if it turned out to be something real then they HAD to let me go. But it wasn't drug poo poo - it wasn't more drug dealers they could go roll up on and steal money and drugs from. They didn't want to deal with this poo poo.

They came back two weeks later and had me write another report, this time giving me a CI number and guiding me through the format to make it easiest for them to use later. They told me that the charges against me were going away and that I should just live my life and, I quote, "just keep your circle small this time". (This felt like they were telling me to go keep dealing drugs, which I definitely was not, do not, am done with, NOPE never again). I do not know the outcome of the information I gave them except that they dropped extremely serious drug trafficking charges against me in mississippi as a result of them.

Well anyway, last year on Mardi Gras, I was driving home from a bar, thankfully with nothing illegal in my car. I got pulled over for a "dim headlight". They ran my name and found a narcotics trafficking warrant against me. The loving cops had charged me anyway - but they charged me with the sale of 25 hits of LSD. Let me remind you: they got 400 hits of LSD, $2000, a bunch of DMT, and adderall from me. Thank loving god my saintly parents hired an extremely expensive - $8000 - criminal defense attorney. I told him all of this, and within 24 hours, the charges had been dropped. My lawyer then proceeds to tell me that the deal was basically this: if I don't go tell this story to the news, they'll forget about it. Because, and I quote my lawyer quoting the DA, "this story would be hugely damaging to the confidential informant program at the local, state, and national level. And trust me, you do not want a local police department, a DA, a judge, a narcotics branch, and the federal DEA angry at you for embarrassing them."

I also learned that part of the reason they were eager to forget about this was that the entire strike team who raided my house had since been fired from the force for unrelated incidents of mishandling evidence.

Like what the gently caress dude. this country sucks.
