I watched CosmicSkeptic interview Douglas Murray (I know, I know). They were talking about trans people and the movement and Murray made the claim that trans and gay people cannot coexist because trans people will erase gay people. They do this by trying to convince young gay people that they are actually trans. I don't know many gay or trans people but I can't say I've seen this. I know there are efforts to identify trans people young so the transition is easier but if you're gay rather than trans then, even if you're quite feminine, you'll probably understand that you're not trans. Is there a big worry that I'm not aware of that trans people are erasing gay people?

The old comedy portrayals of gay men as acting in a feminine way and cross dressing. Or the "lesbians have to be butch" and "all butch women are lesbians" stereotypes. They set up the boundaries in their own head, and seeing those being broken down is a threat. It's easier to assume that someone AMAB who is attracted to men is gay, rather than confront the idea they may be a woman, or bi. Hell, this doesn't even account for the existence of trans people attracted to their own genders, but that's a different strategy they'll use to attack trans people.
