Backups coming in and winning are an exception to the rule. For every Teddy Bridgewater there's 10 more guys that will run your team right into the ground the second your QB goes down. Also Teddy is a great QB that got his career derailed by a horrific injury so he barely counts.

Paying your back up means you can't pay somebody else and a start probably over a season will have more impact than the chance a back up will.

Yup. There should be an opt out for trade if a player has a certain tenure with the org. I'd be livid. I bet you the team leveraged a home town discount when they wrote that contract.

I absolutely get why RBs want to do it given how short their careers are and how brutal, but also they’re super replaceable so it almost never works. It sucks

I want Dalvin to get paid but the way contracts are and how RB’s careers are if you’re the Vikings it makes no sense to offer him a huge contract.

Isn't holding out basically not viable under the new CBA? Like, you miss mandatory time and you lose the year and become a RFA the next

Tons have and if you include third stringers then you have even more. There is a reason QBs that are decent are hard to fine and it’s not because there is a ton of talent that isn’t being invested in. You can argue it’s a coaching failure in general but that is a completely different conversation

I would absolutely be in favor of giving Joe a pretty hefty contract. His perceived value is going to be way higher after a year Of Burrow keeping defenses honest

And the Colts just drafted Jonathan Taylor, so Marlon Mack is definitely hitting the market (even if just to test it)
