Backups coming in and winning are an exception to the rule. For every Teddy Bridgewater there's 10 more guys that will run your team right into the ground the second your QB goes down. Also Teddy is a great QB that got his career derailed by a horrific injury so he barely counts.

Paying your back up means you can't pay somebody else and a start probably over a season will have more impact than the chance a back up will.

Yup.

There should be an opt out for trade if a player has a certain tenure with the org. I'd be livid. I bet you the team leveraged a home town discount when they wrote that contract.

Hundreds of backup QBs haven’t played meaningful snaps in the last 5 years. “Don’t trust your backup” is a self fulfilling prophecy because it leads to teams not investing in the position and ending up with bad players.

I want Dalvin to get paid but the way contracts are and how RB’s careers are if you’re the Vikings it makes no sense to offer him a huge contract.

Tons have and if you include third stringers then you have even more.

There is a reason QBs that are decent are hard to fine and it’s not because there is a ton of talent that isn’t being invested in.

You can argue it’s a coaching failure in general but that is a completely different conversation
