As F. Scott Fitzgerald said, "the foolish ask questions the wise cannot answer". So far this feels less of a jump from the previous game, with maybe the exception that the puzzles that gate certain areas are a little more obvious.

This game's a little weird compared to King's Field 1(2), in that its map is both bigger than the last one, but also less ambitious- areas are a lot flatter and less vertical, there's never an instance where you open a shortcut like with the fountain. It definitely makes the map way, way more useful, though.

The really basic but recognizable environments carry a lot of weight for that I think. And we've got another two-fer, because editing these things together on my old computer is a living nightmare! It's slower than the combat in the original game, I swear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDAmaHSJgk0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMyO9m37ITA

Well hey, the forums seem to be exploding, but we have a new episode to post up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlUyB68N7rk Enjoy for now, and while I'm not usually one for this kind of business, now is probably a good time to like and subscribe to the channel. Maybe we'll make a Discord or something in case this whole place goes rear end up.

Nowhere near as bad as fire and missile shield in KF1 though, wowza. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcaTBs8cHnQ There's a section of this part of the game that definitely hit me in the feels. See if you can guess which part from my reaction.

I'm pretty impressed you used the fairy fossil on your own. I had the guide to this game and always wondered if anyone solved that puzzle without it. So in order to use Sword Magic in this game you actually have to be trained in it. Tier one magic is taught by Veyrac in Cason after your stats hit a certain level, although I think at this point it might be too late; tier two is taught to you if you use Lyn's ring by the fountain in the castle courtyard. Neither actually tells you that's what they're teaching you or how to use it, so good luck figuring out the random button combination that didn't actually do anything until now. It's tricky enough that even the official guide says that it's not in this game.

This definitely seems to have concentrated the action into certain places, which I guess is a sign of the way dungeon crawlers trended generally. I also couldn't get the idea of Dragonewt out of my head. "I mostly break you at night... mostly."

Well that's gonna haunt me for a little while. We're back in business over here, and you know what that means! Time to get. This. Over with! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZo7Xz-g_Ho Overall, I liked this one a hell of a lot, same as the last two, but it's sure a weird game with a lot of stuff you can easily miss. I'd have been pretty miffed if we missed out on the good ending and the remake of the first game's map. I really can see myself going back to them all at some point, though maybe I'll just do a stream for that instead of more videos like this. That leads us down to some interesting choices as to where to go next, and I might contact an LP mod so we can update this thread to just be a general janky old FROM RPG thread. I'm having way too much fun with this. Thanks to my newly gotten SUPREME TECHNOLOGY, we have the option of doing PS2 stuff as well. We've got two parts lined up for Shadow Tower on PSX basically ready to upload (hooray for making, then being unable to complete, a buffer for my computer switchover), but what comes next? ST: Abyss? The next King's Field? Eternal Ring? ....Evergrace???

Eternal Ring was the very first PS2 game I ever played, and I therefore liked it a lot. Be interesting to see how it's aged. For some reason, I distinctly remember the soundtrack. Not because it's amazing or anything, I just recall it perfectly. On the other hand, I unironically love King's Field: The Ancient City. It has shortcomings, to say the least, but... well, it's a King's Field game. At this point, that tells you what you need to know. On the third (?) hand, I never played Shadow Tower or Abyss, so that'd be interesting too. And Evergrace is, uh.... yeah, so you really can't go wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Shadow Tower Abyss is the fastest playing of all the Kings Field games, and also incredibly strange. To name a few strange mechanics: All Equipment gives you stat bonuses, which is where the majority of your stats will come from. However, equipment also has durability, and the bonuses scale to that durability. Now you can repair your equipment at certain stations, but the currency for that is your own HP. This is a problem since healing is relatively scarce in the game. However the other side to this is that you can sacrifice an item to heal yourself. On the plus side the game never really stops giving you equipment so you are almost never without something to protect yourself.

Oh the places we can go with this once we move on. We'll cross/fall off that bridge when we get to it I think. And now we begin... Shadow Tower! I know even less about this game than I do King's Field, so far I can say this thing is a trip. I 100% see why people saw the Tower of Latria in Demon's Souls as pulling from this as its inspiration. Gettin' real weird with it, FROM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5CcLgRbh2c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eTi3PZUq6I
