In tribal casino news: Some tribes are re-shutting down due to the uptick of cases in my state. The tribe I work for put out a company wide memo dunking on them while praising our casino for not shutting down. They stopped requiring masks. Tribal members can decline to have their temp checked at the door, the in-house restaurant and bar reopened at full capacity. I never expected people willingly wandering into the apocalypse to push button and eat badly made chicken fried steak.

Oh and regarding the restaurant: The plan was to bring back less than half the seating. They instead brought back in all the tables and chairs from storage, threw up their hands and went, "well no point taking them back to storage!"

as someone who's watched every post you've made in this thread i can only assume the conclusion to your story will be "and they all died leaving me the sole survivor, at which point i just shrugged and went home"

Guess who potentially got exposed! The person who I might have come into contact with (they won't tell me who, just that I possibly was in contact with them) believes she got it from going out partying last week. Stupid people will kill us all.

I hope I'm good. I wear a mask and gloves and do the hand wash and follow all the rules but I also have to make money so this is the end result. This is how it happens to people who do everything right; they're hosed over by the people who don't.

My governor and republicans led legislature is pushing a quick bill for liability immunity for businesses.

Oh and she just (same day) lifted the capacity restrictions on bars, restaurants and dance halls. We had 275 new cases today.

I did everything right. I just had to work. I had to have a means to live. This is what it gets you. I'd think a week after possible exposure I might have a symptom or two. The sickness I'm feeling right now is a byproduct of finding out about this while I was with my mom, my brothers, and my 18 month old niece. I'm worried about my family and my wife. I'm sick that I had no options other than work or have nothing. I'm sick that the place I work didn't stay closed. I'm sick that I had to go, in person, to my doctor's office because I couldn't get a refill on my Xanax without seeing her in person. Speaking of, it's probably time for a bar and a lay down. I'm all hosed up. If I'm sick, I lose my job anyway. If I'm sick, I've possibly given it to my loved ones. We all isolated other than work. It can't be like this. None of this can be like this. The waiting is hard. They're supposed to be notifying people who had confirmed direct contact with the infected. I don't want that call. No call means no contact.

I don’t even know wtf is going on with the industry. Sets are always packed... everyone has their own theory on how to make it work, but all it takes is one fuckup for a whole show to get infected and spread it to other shows.

And this extra cost of keeping the stars safe? Well, it’s not going to the post side of things, so I’m expecting even crappier client behavior and more insane demands. They’re going to want more VFX, at the same or better quality, for a lower cost. And there will be dozens of post houses that’ll take it with a smile.

I have what I'm pretty sure is a cold but I got a test today because I don't want to spread it at work. Hoo boy that was unpleasant. Made my headache way worse too. But the doctor gave me a note for seven days and theoretically it shouldn't come out of my sick time.
My work doesn't bother telling individuals they've been exposed but pretty much every location has a tattered printout that says "someone in this location tested positive. Here's what we've done: sanitized this location and ppe should be available."

Well, the good news is that even though both my parents tested positive, by and large they are asymptomatic. The bad news is that my mother has that thing that older people have that when she gets an infection, she gets something that's close to a psychotic break where she doesn't know where she is or what she's doing. (That's happened a couple times before and cleared up after the infection was over.). I think that's as close to asymptomatic as she's going to get, she doesn't have anything else going on. So it looking for all intents and purposes like they're going to get through this without their lives being in danger. Hopefully it turns out you gain some immunity when you get through it. My sister's test came back negative, and we're waiting on my results to come back. Social distancing was hard, but it turns out quarantining is incredibly hard. I live in an apartment complex in one of the states that's stupidly reopened, and sometimes I have gotten some Looks from people when I take my dog like 10 inches in the front yard to go to the bathroom, and am still wearing a mask.

Both mom and dad don't want the rest of the family to know what's going on, because they're hoping they'll get better and don't want to worry anyone, so I'm mostly having to keep this to myself. Thank you for being somewhere I can vomit this out to.

Also, I can't believe what my father is having to go through. Bedridden at 65, stuck in isolation physically away from your children, all while your wife who is having a psychotic breakdown in the same room.

Yeah, it's awesome. Assuming it turns out to be fact, so far it's based on one study that hasn't been peer reviewed so it could be baloney, but it looks promising. A real good reason not to fall into the "getting it is inevitable so I might as well get it over with" trap.

Of course CHUDs gotta CHUD, so if a year from now the mortality rate is tiny they'll just say we never needed to take any action at all for such a pissant disease.

It's projection as usual, remember Mitch and the republicans proudly declaring that they wouldn't work with Obama out of spite and blocking Merrick Garland, then Trump shutting down the whole loving government in a tantrum? They have demonstrated they have no qualms about loving everything up just to keep a D from getting anything and so they claim any position taken by Democrrats is similarly hollow and craven.

Huge South Carolina update:

First, we had our second biggest daily new case increase since the beginning of the pandemic (the biggest was two days ago):

But the really interesting stuff comes farther down the page. For reference, here's the daily death curve/projections from this past Monday:

Aaaaaand here's today's

Note the little bump you see on the left in the bottom image is the HUGE bump you see in the top image.

What about total deaths? Well until today they've been projecting 840 or so statewide deaths by August 1, at which point the graph would promptly drop to zero (don't have a screenshot). In the next image, we see that the LOWER boundary of that projection has changed to 1,000. As for after that, you ask?

Up, up, and away!

As a reminder, this is the state whose governor just yesterday said he will not even consider going back into lockdown.
