Since republicans always yammer on about wanting to run the country like a business, are there any corporate models that use the same "lol, you figure it out! I don't want to get primaried or murdered by my own cult members." top-down management style we are getting?

Well, taking over the entire federal government and then running enormous deficits to pay for tax cuts/preferred payments to certain favored investors, while steadily trimming away bits of the organization leaving it less and less able to compete and serve citizens/customers in a changing environment, sure sounds like it could've been a strategy borrowed from the old Bain Capital leveraged-buyout playbook.

Yeah, I think the attitude of doing the exact wrong thing in order to pander to your head executive and going back around to try playing like you were doing the opposite in an extremely obtuse way to avoid responsibility for your actions sounds like a classic middle management ploy. Ideally a well-run company would weed out people like that, but it's probably the best tactic to survive in management if you don't have much skill of your own and your boss is an idiot with terrible ideas.

Because the vaunted meritocracy of the business world is usually dominated by wealthy idiots who are just kept afloat by the inertia of wealth and so many businesses are basically run as pyramid schemes to increase stock value that only accidentally have a real industry attached to them.

Why Texas schools won’t get their $1.2 billion in federal coronavirus aid

On top of the ridiculousness that is deducting the CARES money from what ISDs would be getting otherwise, somehow e-learning doesn't count for the state and there's still a big question mark on if they are even going to fund remote learning.

At my work, the only people wearing masks are the Reservoir Engineers because we have to deal with risking project and math with exponentials. HR took our interns out for lunch today and I really hope that A/C doesn't move enough virus around for infection.

Most of them don't. According to what I have read on the subject the AC installation in China in that example is basically the same as AC installations in the rest of the world, there really isn't a good reason to believe that you would get different results elsewhere in the world.

Real question did you actually read that article? Because you answered a question that the study doesn't reference at all. The issue is the AC pushes the droplets further than normal. So yes if someone were to presumably sneeze near an intake the bends and the filter would prevent the spread of the virus. But if a nearby table had an infected person and they coughed or sneezed the virus has a higher chance of infecting another person because of the air flow direction

Oh poo poo I thought it was just a couple of randos not Cary Cheshire and Tony McDonald lmao

quote:

It posted a recording of about three minutes of “out-takes” in which Cary Cheshire, vice president of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a project of Empower Texans, and Empower Texans general counsel Tony McDonald discuss their disillusionment with Abbott. The two had just finished taping a final segment of the podcast.

“I said Abbott ‘wheeled himself out there,’” Cheshire recounted.

“I’m OK with it,” McDonald replied.

“And then within seconds, you demanded that he ‘stand firm,’” Cheshire continued. McDonald chuckled.

Within hours of Quorum Report’s post, Empower Texans leader Michael Sullivan tweeted that he apologized to Abbott and has suspended Cheshire and McDonald “from all public activities with the organization immediately, and additional internal actions will be taken.”

Someone briefly shared the recording link from out of the paywall and I heard it. The cringy comments on Abbott being a wheelchair user above seem to be the only ones on it, but the rest are just insulting him in general. And honestly, a lot of it is accurate and things the left has been saying - that they're pissed off by Abbott making a riddle out of the mask requirements instead of taking responsibility for his own leadership decisions. But they're anti-mask, and so they're just pissed off on the other end of that issue.

But it is also so fun to see EmpowerTexans shoot themselves in the foot.

No one likes Empower Texas, even their ostensible policy allies, so maybe they'll take this as an opportunity to sweep them out of the capitol. Braddock's already asking Dan if ET is going to get their floor press access (a huge and inappropriate favor Patrick did for his benefactors last session) yanked, since his got pulled because he said a swear about one of his top staffers. They loving cratered in '18, no one is expecting 20 to be better, and even though everyone was obviously a thousand times more mad at Bonnen, there's no way members are cool with MQS secretly recording conversations for blackmail purposes.
