I used to know a bloke in Sydney who would get lamb or beef, tomato, lettuce, and tomato sauce and I wanted to loving deck him.

We're no longer friends for other reasons, but I only got kebabs with him the one time.

I also remember the first time I walked into a Lebanese kebab shop and naively asked for a Donner Kebab, the old uleh behind the counter went "MATE YOU KISS DONNA YOU loving EAT KEBAB" and that set me straight.

Seconding the best kebabs are attached to middle eastern bakeries.

Best kebab I ever had was in a Stuttgart cafe run by a middle eastern guy (Turkish I think?). We order a kebab and the first thing he does is pull out two lumps of dough, roll them out and cook them on the griddle. That was about 13 years ago and it still stands out as some of the best street food I've ever had. Turkey's been on my travel list ever since on the off chance I could maybe have something like that again.

They're slowly spreading out. The one in SA I'd hit up on the way out for a work trip was hit and miss. Usually hit but sometimes poo poo which was really disappointing because I know what they're capable of. Good for a fast food joint, but still nowhere near as good as a proper burger joint.

Yiannis in Adelaide does the best kebab I've come across but because they're greek they call it a yiros, and also because they're greek they can do pork as well which is awesome. And also because they're greek they only take cash looks like they finally got eftpos in April, about time.

I'm mainly looking at Sydney artists, cause gently caress having to fly out to an artist every time for the next session.
There's a couple of artists I want to hit up later on here in Sydney for their thoughts, but I'm going to work on a couple of small pieces for the time being.

There's a really nice leb sit in restaurant in red hill not that far from the footy stadium and every time there was a game he had a big sign out the front that said 'NO drat KEBABS'

He also had another one that said 'NO TAKEAWAY' even though they did do takeaway on those days but that's just how much effort he was willing to put in to avoid people trying to order a kebab off him

Probably is too expensive but otoh a lot of generic takeaway places and yiros shops will charge the same and sometimes more for a inferior one, so still worth it.
