The concept of a central vac system is blowing my mind. How many people stuck their dick in one I wonder?

Depends a lot on the size of the house, but it’s common to have two sockets per floor plus a kick plate on the kitchen floor that you can sweep into, and if you lay on your side it might be possible. So let’s be optimists and say “7”.

Do they have a beater bar in the hose?

Aramoro posted:What about carpets though? Do they have a beater bar in the hose? In the case of the one we had, power ran through the entire hose, like when you plugged the hose in it would also energize whatever fun attachments you stuck to the end, beater bar included.

I can't imagine the airflow pressure in those things is gonna be good. Imagine being stuck with a 1970s level vacuum.

Honestly having lived with and without central vac, suction is pretty similar between the two. I mean really for central it depends on the motor that runs it, how full the tank is etc.

I mean presumably with a central vacuum you could attach a jet intake to the other end. But that would be the only thing that would make me want one given you'd have to, as noted, drag the hose around everywhere.

I've seen this once in the UK when being shown around a fancy new house (which I'll obviously never be able to afford). I quite like the idea that they're not connected to a motor or anything - there's just a terrifying vacuum behind the walls of the house. Real Navidson record stuff.

my parents bought a house with central vac when they moved to kansas and at this point they just use their central vac in the basement where they keep the tubing and another vacuum cleaner upstairs instead of moving all the tubing around

I agree that it, at best, solves a problem that nobody asked for a solution for. Nevertheless plugging into a wall and vacuuming your poo poo into one place that you emptied maybe quarterly but probably closer to twice a year is pretty cool. Annnyway, I feel this derail has run its course so here's a dad joke tweet: https://twitter.com/RonSexsmith/status/1273625476486103040?s=20

The best part of central vac is that the noisiest part of the vacuum is in the garage where you mostly don't have to listen to it while vacuuming. I miss it.

If you have a central vac system you can also get like neat cabinet floorboard inset dust pans. Sweep the dirt in front of the slot, push a button, and sloooop, away the dirt goes.

That’s the only thing that’s tempting about activating the roughed-in system in my house. Magic kitchen dirt slurping.

That was just supposed to be a cameo and he improvised the rest. It was so convincing that they decided to rewrite the episode around it.

There's a solid 10 seconds as you see the gears turn in his head and he checks out 100% from the conversation and even as he gets back into it he's just sputtering vague "yeah, yeah crazy, right" and is mentally tallying up what the gently caress he needs to worry about.
