Are you doing a replacement or return? If it's a replacement I hope the second one comes safely!! Thanks! Yeah after reading your posts I was resigned to the fact that the tv would probably be DOA from amazon. It’s kind of wild how shipping just demolishes so many TVs, seems like it would be hard to make money this way. I’ve opted for a refund. I’m going to ship it back Monday and wait for my money to be refunded and then possibly start looking to get one from Best Buy that I can pick up myself. The LG B9 55” is a nice price for me and I wish I could find a B9 65” in stock, I may use this incident to justify getting what I really want...maybe a C9 65”.

Like nearly twice the price? Also is there any point in buying a 2.1 Cable right now? Nothing can use it. Like maybe when it's closer to the holidays and you have a PS5/X-Box Scorpion and don't want them all to sell out. But right now it is use-less.

A Proper Uppercut posted:TCL 6 series is usually the default recommendation for this need. My first instinct was "just get the TCL soundbar", which is an option if it will work. But TCL's site seems to say that the soundbar has to be connected via HDMI ARC to be controlled by the remote, and I'm not sure I'm willing to give up an HDMI port for the soundbar. I currently have it connected via optical. Oddly, my Apple TV remote also used to control the sound bar, but it will not once hooked up to the TCL. Getting that to work again would probably be good enough, but I'd really like to have the TCL/Roku remote control it. Am I missing something obvious on either the TCL or Apple remote?

Looks like Almost Smart wanted to connect a PC. So, while there may not be strict HDMI 2.1 compliance from the graphic's card yet, the bandwidth would be needed if the intent was to push 4k@120 to the display (which, why wouldn't you if you also have gsync to fall back on when the frames dip?)

Are the issues with Amazon's shipping of TVs universal or just on stuff from Vann's? I've gotten two TVs shipped in the past with no issues, but the last one was in 2012 when the sets themselves tended to be thicker/sturdier.

Some early videos are out for the Hisense H9G/Q9G (Visions has it for sale in Canada), and while the example videos aren't professionally, scientifically recorded or calibrated, I still think it might be my pick to finally replace my plasma. And it has Chromecast built in, which will be nice too.

Yeah, I said screw it and just bought the 25 foot fiber optic cable. Ten feet was really like the minimum I needed, but that would have required a wire running diagonally across the wall from the television to the PC. I'll just stash the excess behind the stand where it can join the rat king of other cables back there. I'll need pruning shears to get through that poo poo if we ever move to a new place.

I just picked up a Samsung 75" TU7000 and it's pretty nifty but i'm getting stumped with some of the HDMI settings. I figure it's a general new TV Samsung software thing so someone might have the answer here. Basically, when i plug in a PS4 or a PC it picks up what the device it is and automatically names the source, etc. It's only got 2 HDMI ports, so i picked up an auto HDMI switch to plug everything into and give me a few more. However, when i power up the PC or the PS4 through this switch, the TV detects it, names the source as PS4 or whatever, but then loses the signal.. I'm assuming it's something to do with the TV detecting a PS4 signal but then getting confused by whatever the switch is telling it (or however that works). Is there a config i should use or an option i can turn off to stop it freaking out? I found another person who has the exact same issue as me, but no real steer given there. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/4k-8k-and-Other-TVs/TU7000-HDMI-Switch-issue/td-p/1212048

I'm looking to replace a 2010 Pansonic TC-P50S2 with something. Is this TV old enough that my wife and I would be "happy" with basically anything modern? It's a 50" and it uses at least 300W of power, so had I replaced it a few years ago it probably would have already "paid" for itself. Plus this plasma puts out an ungodly amount of heat into the room and its 92 degrees today. Here are the options I was mulling and their all-in price. Hisense 58R6E3 (58" 2020 model) for $299 @ Walmart TCL 4 Series (55" 2018? model) for $295 @ BestBuy Samsung UN58RU7100FXZA (58" 2019 model) for $370 @ Walmart TCL 55S525 (55" 2019 model) for $400 @ Amazon Hisense 65R6E1 (65" 2019 model) for $455 @ Walmart Hisense 55H8G (55" 2020 Model) for $500 @ Amazon & I heard a rumor costco has the 2019 H8F for $380 @ 55" but I'm not a member: https://www.costco.com/hisense-55%22-class---h8f-series---4k-uhd-led-lcd-tv.product.100659051.html if anyone can confirm that price its probably the best deal here? I would honestly prefer a 1080p TV if they still made them. I still use an HTPC and plex and the only thing currently hooked up to my TV is a launch PS4 & the Dell Optiplex PC. I have no 4K content and do not buy UHD blu-rays. I may stream a little, maybe download some cool 4K nature stuff, but I'm not planning on major 4K / HDR stuff. I am mostly a PC gamer. I'm a computer guy and can tell you the difference between 90 different GPUs but this TV stuff reminds me of mattress purchasing, a lot of similar models at similar prices to confuse you with slightly different features & tons of marketing gibberish. Am I correct that since I'm playing everything through a PC that the PC GPU will do the upscaling? I have a GT 1030 so can output and H/W decode 4k. bus hustler fucked around with this message at 16:29 on Jun 21, 2020 |

My viewing distance is about 10ft and I'm 100% going with a 77" next time. Though, I'm going to be sure to wall mount it so it will be slightly further away than it is on my stand. That's going to be awhile though. C6 is still going strong at about 9000 hours and I really don't want to give up 3d yet. I keep hoping that LG adds it back as a "why the gently caress not" feature on future models.
