Listen RandomFerret, I get what you and Jose were going for, but you miscalculated on two key things:

1.) the proclivity for modern Simpsons writers to run a joke into the ground.

2.) The ability the nerds in the thread have for remembering every appearance of every character to ever appear on the Simpsons, even if only for a split second in the background.

Combine these two things and, I'm sorry, but the gag was never going to work.

The best minor character is that guy that said "I doubt my son or daughter is that stupid" to Marge and punched Homer for saying "you look like a man that has trouble satisfying his wife".

Best minor character is the $10 per axle "hooray" guy.

One appearance, one word. Perfect.

I was about to say that the best minor character is Tibor because he doesn’t even show up on screen, but I just googled it to be sure and apparently he actually showed up onscreen in season 28(!)

In the Season 40 finale, that Langdon Alger kid shows up, and it becomes the series cliffhanger.

fake edit: Actually, I googled what his last name even was, and the wiki showed that he has a picture now, and a comic appearance? Truly no imaginary Simposn is safe.

Thinking about it, Cartridge Family is an exceptional episode, made even more so for me by Sky not showing it here for years. Robbing the Kwik-E-Mart, the NRA meetings, Homer anxiously waiting for the gun store to open after his check and dashing for the toilet, just crushed it.

Isn't it great?

the gun shop being named "Blood Bath and Beyond" is still funny. Also has there ever been an episode centered around King Toot's Music Shop, the store right next to Moe's?

Another great line, which could have featured sarcastic dude but didn't, is Moe wanting to get his floor back.

"Next time pay your bills"
"But I don't want to!"

Not "I can't", not "I will, just give me time". He just doesn't want to.

There was the flashback to how Lisa got her saxophone, I think.

Homer accidentally mouthed off about the owner when he needed a reed for Lisa's saxophone, and there's the story of when he bought it in the first place, but then it was over the street

The best ones are all of them, but I think my favorites are that, Dr. Zaius and Clown College.

e: Clown College is pretty fantastic on its own, but it also reminds me that all of those jokes came from a single episode. Each one of them would be the highlight of a season 20+ episode.
