When you first get to Venice, pay very close attention during the first few cutscenes. There is a very important QTE that you don't want to miss.

It has no gameplay consequences but you will feel like a huge jerk if you don't hit it in time.

Can anyone recommend a space game with cool planet discovery lore? Escape Velocity, Stellaris, or Mass Effect would be good examples. Games where you can scan planets and find exotic or spooky stuff like remnants of old civilizations. I'm not really thinking of procedurally generated stuff, more like handwritten lore.

Endless Sky is Escape Velocity, only nicely updated and on Steam, with plenty of planet lore to read. Also, it's free. FREE. I loved Escape Velocity back in the day and this game made me super happy.

Eventually, I want to either hit 120 on 1440p or a glorious 60 on 4k or some curved monitor disgustingness.

So I've got a couple of funbux from selling cards and am thinking about picking up LISA: The Painful. Any opinions?

Also, I've never been able to beat Hades. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't do it. I always end up losing too much health to those loving regenerating armor dudes in Elysium. Because of them, I rarely beat Theseus and the Minotaur. I'm probably choosing terrible power combos or something?

I wouldn't describe Lisa as a "fun" game, but it's certainly a memorable experience. If you like RPGs more for the world, then yeah definitely. If you want intricate character customization options, then lol no (although the different party members are actually noticeably different).

If rough subject material really gets to you, I would pass on this. The gameplay itself isn't too terribly hard aside from maybe a handful of fights, but other than that, it's pretty easy to get a hold of the mechanics.

This is probably it. I didn't get my first victory of Hades until I knew what combos were good and then using the keepsakes that would lead to those combos (as well as higher tier boons).

For example, I think my first win was with the Hera Bow and I started my run with the Overflowing Cup keepsake to get that sweet sweet Festive Fog cast, then I switched to another keepsake after Meg to get a second god's boons for combos, then after the next boss went with the Lucky Tooth to give an extra revive. Once you can consistently clear the 3rd boss, you can probably move Lucky Tooth to be after that boss and choose the Coin Purse as your third keepsake.

As others have said it's highly memorable, but, unpopular opinion: actually playing it is like pulling teeth. And I don't mean because of the story-related gut punches it throws at you, I mean the process of moving around like a corpulent glacier, getting blindsided by hidden/random damage triggers, jumped by enemies, dying because I'm always running out of healing items, and having to revert to the last save point I hit half an hour ago for the third time, is thematically appropriate but also the fastest way to make me never want to play your game again.

It tends to work out that way. The first time I made it past Megaera, which was maybe my fifth or sixth run playing the game total, I hit a crazy rush through the rest of the game and almost made it to the end of the third area before exhaustion set in and I eventually died to Elysium's power couple. Just got real lucky there.

My only qualm about getting it again now is that it's only the Original and while it's good and fun, there's not a lot there, all things considered. It's great if you haven't played it though

It's becomes repetitive quickly. It's more of a game you play while watching or listening to a show. Try getting creative with your layouts and opt for aesthetic over optimization for some of your playthroughs. I felt the same way after about 35 minutes.

OG Gothic sets the tone in the beginning by showing the protagonist being thrown into the prison colony and immediately beaten up by one of the factions. The protagonist is not stupid, but he starts at the absolute bottom with his best weapon being a stick.

They replaced that with HIGH OCTANE ACTION with FIRE EVERYWHERE and a protagonist mumbling to himself like a male porn star with severe brain damage. Mumbling constantly. To himself. With FIRE.

Grab the Xbox Game Pass and try it there! The learning curve is just UI if you’re already really into football, and you can automate anything you’re not terribly knowledgeable about or just not interested in.

It can be steep, especially if you don't know anything about football. It can also ease you in gently if you start with Touch (the simplified version of the main game) and pick a big team in a high division. It only becomes seriously hard when you're trying to make a tiny team win big. Like it would be in real life, I suppose.

Here's an introductory video:

At the beginning of the game you get sucked Farscape-style into an unfamiliar part of the galaxy with just an allied space station alongside you. Your ship can be built out of little modules, you can research different bits for it and then add armour and more weapons, more power generation, crew compartments, etc etc. You can scan planets and sometimes they have an event pop where you make a choice, and you might gain something, or lose something, depending, like the bits in FTL. I like it a lot.

This doesn't discount the fact that when they got there some of the soldiers did some bad poo poo, and the airforce did some really really bad poo poo, but anyone looks good compared to the literal nazis.
