In fact, the next 4 people who want it, PM me your Steam details and I'll hook you up. Note: please only take advantage of this offer if you actually intend to play the game.

I remember playing the marine demo back in the day again and again, plus the great facehugger ambush spot that happens near the end of the demo level.

Another neat things the original AVP was randomizing the Alien location which made the tension really good, especially since the Alien make them climb on the wall / ceilings just like in the movies.

Marvel churns out PG 13 dreck. They managed to make Star Wars comics boring and piss all over the continuity of the films. They write stories to placate internet scolds and chase trends, they have no creative vision. Originality dies under Disney. Everything that makes an intellectual property fun or disturbing or unique or anything meaningful is erased under that megacorp of assholes.

You're excited that the people that made the Last Jedi have creative control over Aliens. Ridley Scott already killed the IP but why would you want to see it's corpse further defiled?

I really do understand the instinct when you really love a movie, you want more of it. You want to live in it forever, so you watch it a bunch, and you consume supplemental material like books and sequel movies. Even though they're not as good or interesting as the movie you love they let you stay in that world you loved for a little while longer.
Except you wake up one day and realize that world is gone, it's replaced with a theme park ride that's so close to the original you went years without noticing it had changed. But it has changed, and all the trees are fake and all the buildings are hollow facades stuffed to overflowing with the chunks of the world you used to love. At some point they chopped it up so you could buy a little piece of it. There's a few shards in your home right now, aren't there?

If this is what you're after... I mean I wouldn't. Hicks is gone, man.

Anyway the game itself is... okay? It's not the worst game I've ever played but it's nowhere near what it could and should have been. The stone-dumb AI kills a lot of it, and the writing is absolute "teenage fanfic" dogshit. You do get to shoot aliens, though, and there's some fun setpieces, but I've played through the campaign a couple times and I just really can't recommend it. Now, the multiplayer on the other hand was very cool for the like two weeks it had an active playerbase.

I didn't mind it at all and have no idea why it got so much hate. Although I got it well after it was released, maybe two years, and I think they fixed a bunch of stuff.

It's not an amazing game but it gives you a nice little bite of the USCM.

edit: I'm sure everyone has noticed by now but I'm very much not a "this needs to be perfect or exact to my expectations or I hate it" type of guy. I liked the Marvel movies. I don't care if they're not cinematic masterpieces. They're fun to watch. That's the entire point of watching a movie to me. It either has to elicit some sort of emotion from me, make me question life or some other topic, have some sort of impact, or just straight up fun to watch. Same with games. Especially games. I couldn't give a poo poo how accurate they are or this or that. Is it fun? Does the money I spent give me a form of entertainment that I'm consuming? Yes? Ok good. That's the entire point.

It got hate because of the lies of Pitchford made. Watch the comparison videos, there are plenty, to see what was promised and what was delivered.
I love all of the Alien games, but I will never buy Colonial Marines. There are indie games worth the same I would rather buy.

Two were already dead weren't they?
They were in a side room, not the actual room with the jarred huggers.
And it had beds. Everywhere else was hard metal.
And the facehuggers were in jars, properly contained. Took a bastard to open one manually to get them out.

Would like to know how they got the live one into it jar in the first place.

Huh...

My understanding was that the ones in the jars were in the medical bay (and there was even a jump scare when one was alive) unless that was a different room/area that also had face huggers in it - but it read to me like the same room. And, sure, I get that those creepy little fuckers aren't SUPPOSED to be able to get out but, even then, why not just drain the tanks and kill them proper since Ripley has been all "gently caress no, not one specimen gets brought back PERIOD" but then they go take a nappy nap in the ONE god damned room we KNOW has living monsters in it. Or at least next to it if your description is correct.

And ok, sure. Beds v hard metal. Comfort levels. FIne then.

Drag the loving beds/mattresses out and into the sealed off areas next to the trained marines with the big gently caress off weapons so everyone stays together AWAY from the loving monsters and cop a few Z's.

I think one little mention of "medical is the most secure area for a small child" would have helped with my issue here (and I think that the unbreakable glass and inability to get OUT was conveying that) but, still, just go murder those 2 little contained fuckers and then go to bed.

Having said all that, the way the movie did it made for a WAY better scene and one of my favorites in the series so I'm gonna allow it.

...

What a great loving movie. Or Movies

Finally turned my 9 year old son onto the first two films and he LOVED them both but he also confirmed for me that Aliens is the superior film (which I already knew) but it 100% does not work at all unless you've seen Alien and relies on the first movie's set up to be really effective. You absolutely need the first movie to show just how deadly ONE of these fuckers is.

Now he wants to play Alien: Isolation

Yeah it was in a different room from medical. Just one away of course but it looked like an actual sleeping area or at least had a bed so that's probably why she slept there. Ripley had no reason to think someone would try really hard to get someone "infected."
