Long was my drifting between worlds, searching for a suitable host. It is ironic, in a way, that when I finally found one she was so simple to enter that I was scarcely aware of doing so. Almost without warning, I felt life again, with the first sensation being a bandage wrapped around my -my host's- head. From there, I dimly became aware of the shifting of the wagon and the clink of metal on metal - the door of my cage? I am in a cage? One of the others must have seen me stirring, for he greeted me with a hearty chuckle. "You're finally awake. I was starting to think you'd never wake up." As the hours passed, I came to understand that the local kingdom had decided to expand, and had emptied their dungeons for the task rather than risk more desired citizens. I have no knowledge of this host's crimes, but that is no issue - nobody else seems to want to share anyway, and are strangers to one another. Our party of seven consists of myself, Gnoman Space General, an iterant An adept farmer by the name of Pharnakes, who is likely to find this place very frustrating IPA Regulations, who is trained in all aspects of metalwork to a small extent - also likely to be frustrated for quite some time His new friend AJ Impy, an acceptable doctor A trained miner by the name of Maugrim And finally wargames, once a member of a fortress guard. Fortunately, they sent a spear, breastplate, and helm along. This gives us some valuable defense in this forsaken land. The head of our escort seemed to be quite disturbed as we traveled across this endless plain of ice. I am told we were supposed to be establishing an outpost on the far side, but something seems to have changed those plans. Midway across the glacier, our guards turned almost as one and galloped away. Fortunately, one of them tossed me the key to our cages before leaving, allowing us to free ourselves. For some reason, all seem to have decided that I am to lead here. I look upon my icy kingdom and despair. 15 Granite, 550 The first order of business is to secure shelter of some sort. Since there is little to choose from in this place, I order Maugrim and Space General to take our two picks and start digging straight down. This is no substitute for proper walls, but it will at least be better than nothing. Meanwhile, I get started on dismantling the wagon. Soon, the rest will be able to start hauling. 27 Granite Our initial dig is completed - we're below the surface, if not yet indoors, and we have a more defensible entrance, though that won't keep anybody from just jumping down. After we dig some tempoarary stockpiles, we are going to dig deeper yet. In the meantime, I've decided that there is no way to keep the pack animals that were left behind alive here, so I've assinged Pharnakes to build a butchery and tanning setup. Once they are complete, I will have Wargames standing by just in case. 15 Slate The butchery was completed without incident, and we have struck stone several layers below the earth! Pharnakes has set up a kitchen to make our preserved food more interesting, and I'm going to go a little deeper before setting up a mason's shop. After that, we'll move down here, safe from those annoying owls. 21 Felsite Our labors were interrupted by reports of a cloud of strange dust. It is fairly far from our initial excavation, but we should keep a watch out. As a precaution, I have ordered everyone to hole up in the food stockpile until it passes. 1 Hematite Summer is now here. The dust cloud passed north of our excavation, but a few dwarves missed it by only inches. We must discourage excessive outdoorsiness. Nothing to look at out here besides ice and owls anyway. Most of our food, save for a few plump helmets kept back for brewing, has been turned into lavish meals. There is little enough comfort here as yet that we must find what we can. The outpost is not yet particularly interesting. We have begun to process the stone, but what will someday be great underground boulevards are now barely begun. Nearer to the surface, things are a bit more interesting. A small array of workshops sit around on the surface, if only temporarily. IPA Regulations has taken up bone carving to pass the time, and there are the facilities that Pharnakes used to process our animals.

Tinasth Ginbeard sighed, then drew his cog-quill, etching his name onto the oath of immigration. The script menaced with spikes of hope, gold and the lure of complex machinery. Then he raised his finely-decorated adamantine Sword of Arcane Rending to his lips to seal the oath, but it slipped through his fingers into a deep shaft, for he had recently masturbated into an oily rag. "ANUSTRAPPPSSSS" he bellowed, shaking the firmament. But the deed was done. He was going into the north. ((I am so loving here for this.)) 8 Malachite Little has happened until today. We have begun to establish a dining room, and have begun the great excavation to bring all beneath the surface. Pharnakes, unable to farm, has been assigned to smooth and detail the dining hall. Gives him something to do. As the last cask of mushrooms was being carried down, IPA Regulations let out a startled shout - strangers on the horizon! After some initial panic, we realized that these strangers were Dwarves! Not only that, but they were the first wave of settlers to follow the trail we were to blaze. They seemed surprised to come upon us here, but after some debate they conceded to settle. First is idhrendur, famed throughout the land for his magnificent stoneworks. What could possess such a dwarf to come to this land? Next is neogeo, a truly exceptional burner of wood, and earner of the title Hagsbane for his slaying of a hulking hag nearly fifty years ago. As we possess neither wood nor hags at this time, I have assigned him to work as a mason. We have much stone to shape. His wife, Zore, appears less useful at first. She has no crafting skills, but is a decent musician and a good dancer. We have need of such cheer in this desolate place. HardDiskD, while trained as a shearer, is also a talented musician. We simply must acquire some instruments for these two. 13 Galena I have just been informed that we have no more booze available, and some idiot ate the plump helmets! I have canceled the great excavation for now, as we must find water. 1 Limestone The water shaft has found a great many gems, but no water as yet. With any luck, the caravan will come soon.

Getting in right on this ground floor, baby! Interesting that I was a former member and broker of the Clasp of Fishes, and also their prisoner for a time. I wonder what I did. And now I'm a member of The Frilly Dresses of Smoothness. Considering my fondness for dispatching hags, I'd like to request enlistment in the militia. And also considering our complete lack of wood, and the fact that I don't know what other skills I have, I'd like to request that my work in my downtime from military training be something that'll keep me close to the action, whatever that ends up being.

Zore posted:Can we get some insight into our civilization's gods? Curious about who and what we're worshipping. Funny you should ask that, since it was already on my agenda! ((OOC Note: I wanted to check Legends to track down what artifact Idhrendur made (just shows "creator of " " in the profile), and figured it would be neat to probe Legends mode for all the migrants.)) 2 Limestone After spending some time in conversation with the newcomers, I learned some of their stories. Idhrendur is an interesting dwarf, who gained his legendary skill by crafting an artifact that, sadly, he left in his previous homeland. He has an interesting past, as well. Neogeo was reluctant to talk about his past, but eventually the story came out. Zore has lead an uneventful life, and HardDiskD has lead a storied life She is the author of several works that she will not describe. These are the poem "We See Strangenesses", and the musical compositions "Metal Lovely", "The Thirsts and Tulip", "Greases", and "It Must Have Been Stability" ((Legends mode doesn't have these marked as discovered, so I can't view them)) 4 Limestone Success! We have discovered a great underground cavern, full of water! To commemmorate the occasion, I have ordered the excavation of a great temple to honor our many gods. Attention will, of course, be given to those worshipped by the dwarves already in this place. These are, at present: "My" own god, Bem the Chartreuse, also worshipped by wargames, IPA Regulations, and Zore Deler Umberearthen the Amethyst Silver, who is favored by Maugrim, and neogeo Alron, worshipped by AJ Impy, her lover Space General, neogeo, and HardDiskD Zalstom Absam, The Medicine of Searching, who's worship by idhrendur, Pharnakes, and neogeo is slightly concerning Doren Mineddiamond, also a bit concerning and worshipped by neogeo Kovest, worshipped by neogeo And, probably most troubling of all, Lenod Uzolalan Thatthil, worshipped by HardDiskD Full image Link
