Like most things in this show that are offensive, it is done in a way that you the viewer are supposed to know it is offensive and other characters point it out as being offensive. That doesn't really absolve them of wrongdoing, but nothing is put in the show in a way that makes you think what is happening is ok.

It seems a bit silly, but I have been watching those shows forever and understand the context. But, the less lovely/ironic/funny racism the better for my kids/society moving forward.

Always Sunny has changed in lots of ways, but it's the nature of the show taking it's characters seriously despite their insanity. They started off in their 20's, living a dream of owning a bar together. Now they're hurtling into middle age still in the same situation and the show acknowledges that. The changes in Dennis are my favourite for being some of the most subtle. He still acts basically the same, but the poo poo which once worked for him now fails most of the time.

I mean the show is still on the balance very good, but there ends up being a couple of duds each season now and there's far fewer writing credits from the gang. Saying the show isn't as good as it used to be isn't saying its turned into The Simpsons, just that its slipped a little from its prime where it was producing whole seasons of solid gold.

I also hate the robbery one other than the hot dog and Charlie’s segment. The other segments feel like bad fan fiction of the concept. As in yes the segments are supposed to be outlandish, but they are in a bad way.
