My favorite thing about the dao smart contract bullshit is that they explicitly stated the implementation of the code took contractual priority over any of the textual descriptions, so any bug exploits you did were legal by definition https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2016-06-17/blockchain-company-s-smart-contracts-were-dumb quote:The terms of The DAO Creation are set forth in the smart contract code existing on the Ethereum blockchain at 0xbb9bc244d798123fde783fcc1c72d3bb8c189413. Nothing in this explanation of terms or in any other document or communication may modify or add any additional obligations or guarantees beyond those set forth in The DAO’s code. Any and all explanatory terms or descriptions are merely offered for educational purposes and do not supercede or modify the express terms of The DAO’s code set forth on the blockchain.

Etherium was at one point in 2017 completely unusable as a digital cat petting game used its blockchain and effectively DDoS'd the whole thing for like two weeks. Nothing will top that in my mind for Dunning-Krugerrand hilarity.

i disagree with people not wanting to work people love to work. it’s vitally important to who they are (for a lot to people. obviously some people cannot)) the issue is being exploited for that work but as someone said above I have a dumb anarchist mind

people do love to work, but it depends on what kind of work and for how long when you add in the monetary element (work or starve), people associate work with basically being taken hostage by a workplace; people intuit that their job takes up too much of their time and energy and doesn’t give them enough in return but they lack the class consciousness to capitalize on those feelings

one of my coworkers at my last job’s wife was dying of cancer. he held a bunch of fundraisers. I never met the wife but during the holiday party in 2017 I went on a mild rant to one of my bosses about Bitcoin. found out that coworker had bought several bitcoin as an investment. He said I should talk to him and I made a couple mild comments like “hey man hedge your bets that poo poo’s the Wild West” bitcoin crashed from its record high about a week later. his wife died that february.

Dmitri-9 posted:So is the upsurge in cruise ship bookings being hampered by the fact that most other countries won't let our plague ships anchor at their ports? There are no cruises departing from the US at the moment, and there won't be for a while. Some are happening in the EU (Hurtigruten is cruising around Norway, Mein Schiff and Aida are launching cruises to nowhere soon and river cruises are happening as well). Cruises to nowhere are hard to do legally in the US because of the Jones act (that's the act that makes goods in Puerto Rico needlessly expensive). Any reports of "upsurges in cruise bookings" I'd take with a huge grain of salt, because cruise bookings have to be extremely low right now.

However lefties aren't allowed to have these discussions because conservatives have poisoned the well. Obviously my gun means I'm a drooling idiot with action hero fantasy's.
