So if, for example, someone studied a STEM subject with modules in ethics (killing people is generally bad even if your boss says it saves money) and rights management (how to navigate patents) they could claim to have studied philosophy, law, and engineering under WeetRules?

No.

They could say they got a degree with a specialism in those things.

Hello, dear
Still thinking of your bachelor's degree as your personal zenith and also a licence to win arguments a decade odd after graduating is indicative of something being quite wrong imo. I mean surely the biggest lessons you learn from higher education are that it's really just a starting point for you to build upon and that qualifications in themselves don't really mean that much

The main lesson I got from uni is that I become absolutely useless in something very shortly after I stop practicing it.

Honestly this is why I find her so fascinating. More than almost anyone else on Twitter, she's so consistently wrong and so nakedly full of poo poo despite her constantly adopting an air of dismissive smugness. But surely she can see how ridiculous her mental gymnastics look? Something just feels off about it all, like this level of cognitive dissonance should be unsustainable in a normal human. The main lesson I learned from Uni was that I'm very bad at studying and also very bad at socialising, and it was therefore a complete loving waste of time and money except to give me a piece of paper that IIRC I've been asked to prove I have exactly once in my life.

I wonder if theyr still doing herd immunity, when that was the plan they talked about how as well as locking down when it got too much they'd have to work to infect people with the virus when it was too low in the population and they'd do that by opening schools etc.

I suppose with the idea that you can come out the other side faster and with a competitive advantage compared to like Europe.

Then in natural tory fashion the evil plan doesnt even do the right kind of evil and we're just gonna be dealing with this longer than anyone.

Not sure if that's right, either way the govs actions can't be differentiated from intentionally spreading the virus

It's also an incredibly bad idea because just like SARS there is more and more evidence of long term damage even with people who had relatively mild illnesses. You could come out the other side with 5-10% of your workforce semi-permanently disabled in some fashion.

Honestly it's not really possible to distinguish any more the malice from the incompetence.

Those run it hot, but there's gotta be a core reason to believe london property has value before you can flog those to people - that being londons central economic positions and therefore accommodation demand. Too many people start asking questions about "do we need to commute to the office anyways?" And that collapses.

Nah I've met plenty of people who live in shocking states of cognitive dissonance. I'm never really that surprised by Tweetman's stuff. It seems to me that where a misconception is tied up in some way with a person's identity, rather than scrutinise it they are much more likely to keep doubling down forever until they are inhabiting a reality that is completely warped and will only tolerate the company of people who don't question them about it

Years ago, my boss recruited a guy on the grounds that he had several degrees. When I became HoD, I checked the cvs as the guy was absolutely terrible (and whose mistakes were not only just bad, but had potentially fatal results as we were a fire alarm company), and on his CV he listed these several degrees. Every single one turned out to be starting the first year of an Open University or other distance learning uni. He had never made it past the first year of any of them. While I have every admiration for those who do complete studies while working full time - even just a GCSE or A-level - to list as 'degrees held' several failed first year courses was just basically lying.
