Yeah his legacy now really sits sour with me. It’s worse than rewatching Murphy standup from the 80s because you can’t write it off with the Zeitgeist argument. It is just plain cringe.

Those ten years or so that Chappelle spent in Idaho, or wherever the gently caress, not talking to anyone were the good old days.

Yeah, and even though there are absolutely aspects of Raw and Delirious that are unacceptable by modern standards, you get the impression that those jokes weren't told with the same degree of vicious gleefulness at the hurt they would cause as Chappelle's act, and Murphy has gone on the record and apologised for them.

Dave Chappelle isn't that funny. I love the Chappelle show but realize the elements I really enjoyed from it aren't Dave but everyone who contributed to the show. Oh his own he falls flat to me.

I called out Chapelle for his first Netflix specials and got a lot of poo poo for it. Like everyone else, I love his old work but he obviously didn't keep up with the times and let his wealth get to him.

Cyrano4747 posted:I once had a dude admit to a war crime. We had an honest-to-God Rwandan war criminal in one of my environmental engineering classes here in Sweden. Most days he'd come early to the lecture hall and carefully lay his things out across three or four desks in the front row. We were always on edge when he'd raise his hand to comment, since it'd end up being a rambling story from Burundi (where said he was from) about cancer/HIV cures or a lake which went down to the center of the earth. A few years later we found out he'd been identified as a war criminal and, since he'd been naturalized a Swedish citizen in the mean time, he was tried for genocide in a Swedish district court. It was... a new perspective on the Rwandan Civil War...
