87 people arrested last night protesting outside the home of Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron. They were mostly charged with "intimidating a participant in the legal process" which is a felony, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, misdemeanors. Among them is Kenny Stills, Wide Receiver for the Houston Texans. https://twitter.com/LucasAulbach/status/1283374826556661762?s=20

It hasn't been talked about much on SA (at least in the threads that I read), but a few athletes have come out in favor of Louis Farrakhan (most recently Allen Iverson posted a picture of him and Farrakhan on his IG) and I'm waiting for Trump to find out and use it as more evidence to blanket cast democrats as antisemitic.

facialimpediment posted:It's an unknown right now. Birx and HHS people are saying that the data will still be transparently published and the CDC will just post a mirrored version later. They have absolutely not earned the benefit of the doubt on that, but the states are still reporting their own data, independently of the federal count, so it will probably be obvious if some fuckery in the count starts happening. According to some, states will now be getting their info from HHS, not directly from the hospital. It is absolutely being set up so they can lie. And if hospitals don't comply, they won't get relief funding. There is also just no way for them to report to the CDC now, so they can't just decide not to go along with this.

There is absolutely no way the federal government is stopping Colorado hospitals from reporting their numbers to the state's department of health. HHS can't fulfill that role and neither could the CDC. The state literally can't operate without having that direct line to its own hospitals. Who are the "some" saying that? The news is bad but it's been pretty consistent that the HHS is taking over for the CDC reporting, not literally all reporting including the local level. Here's the actual guidance: https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/covid-19-faqs-hospitals-hospital-laboratory-acute-care-facility-data-reporting.pdf quote:By default, hospitals should report the detailed information listed below on a daily basis through one of the prescribed methods. However, we recognize that many states currently collect this information from the hospitals. Therefore, hospitals may be relieved from reporting directly to the Federal Government if they receive a written release from the State stating that the State will collect the data from the hospitals and take over Federal reporting responsibilities Tiny Timbs fucked around with this message at 20:25 on Jul 15, 2020 |

Why wouldn't, once we figured out this was a nationwide pandemic and not isolated, it have just been local hospitals -> State HHS -> CDC -> whatever other fed agency. This just seems like a staff work issue
