My opinion of Evil Within 2 has kind of tanked towards the end. But I think that is mostly because of fatigue. I dont feel like it needed to be a 10-15 hour game like it is and now that combat is at the forefront, I can see some pretty glaring technical issues. The first is the hideous FOV. The game feels like it is super zoomed in and Sebastian's character model looks like he takes up a quarter of the screen. Also, the aiming feels like it has a bit of a deadzone.

i think TEW2 needed to go in harder on the open world first hub area, which was by far and away the best part of the game. i don't necessarily know that full on open world was the proper answer to this but whenever the game gets more linear in future sections it always suffers for it.

the next time you get to a more open world hub zone everything has really escalated which is fine i guess, but it also changes the gameplay fairly significantly. there's really not as much creeping around or exploration to do and a lot more combat so i think it doesn't have the same brooding horror.

the whole ending sequence i felt was pretty whatever game play wise but the story was okay.

That’s probably to increase the units available after Christmas because there is now way 10 million will be available at launch because of logistics alone. It took the PS4 like 9 months before 10 million units were available in the market.

Also I went to read TLoU2 spoiler thread after I finished the game and the posts before release were some of the worst posts I’ve ever read.

Any recommendations for a wireless PS4 headset with better build quality (like actually paying to use some loving metal)?

- Must support 7.1 virtual surround.

If you plan on getting a PS5 you might wanna just electrical tape this broken one and get on board with their official PS5 headset at launch because 3rd party 7.1 often ends up being PC compatible only.

otherwise

If the PS3-PS4 transition is anything to go by this one will probably be forwards compatible sometime after launch of PS5

I’ve been through multiple gold and platinum headsets and think the turtle beach stealth 600are all around better. You lose some of the cool integrated functionality and there isn’t a wired option, but they sound better are more comfortable and are built better.

I don’t think they have the 7.1 though, but I always felt like that feature was a gimmick where I could hear no discernible difference.

It's really, really good in Siege, and I find it to be reasonably accurate in the newest CoD, as far as direction is concerned. It's crazy how much better it is compared to my normal Sony Monitors (which are cheaper, but a Hell of a lot better made).

Pretty much since animal crossing came out I could only use the switch for my turn playing animal crossing. Since I stopped playing animal crossing I am only able to hold it when my wife hands it to me so I can see what she’s done on the island (she has currently put mannequins all over this bit of land she’s hoping to build a rock garden in).

Unless they keep releasing dlc and content updates for years to come, I expect to play switch games again sometime in summer of 2021.

Does anyone know if you can use the USB dongle from the Sony Silver headset with a different set of headphones? I would check but I'm not at my PS4 at the moment. I've been pretty happy with just hooking iems to my controller but tlou2 definitely showed some weaknesses there, and my Silver headset itself is completely demolished apparently due to me using it very infrequently and gently

Man I dunno if you'll find a metal headset strap anywhere but I got a pair of lightly used Astro 50s and they're pretty decent.

I kinda hate that they don't do DTS though.

But just hold off until PS5 headset drops in a few?

Nobody move and nobody gets hurt.

It's definitely too long, but I really liked the Storyline advancement structure, the open world was fun to tool around in, and the acting was legitimately great across the board. I bought it on impulse for $15 in a sale and didn't have especially high hopes for it, but it rose to the level of a genuinely good game.

Reviewers are part of the internet hive mind as much as everyone here or on reddit or whatever and the internet decided it did not like Days Gone for whatever reason before ever even came out.

Tbf I'm not surprised it didn't get nothing but glowing reviews. It has a lot of issues. But I was surprised to find it was a really solid game after reviews made me expect utter mediocrity.

I can see why GoW didn't get any, it seems set up to go directly to a sequel with not much leeway for in-between DLC
The developers had always insisted there would be no DLC even before they released the game. I guess the bean counters don't hold that much power in certain parts of first party dev

I am serious when I say that I think they discuss what scores they are gonna give games as a group before they publish their reviews. Like, they reach some kind of consensus and decide on a general point they want to all get across. That's gotta be why the larger publications all seem to write the same score, while smaller ones and youtubers are more likely to say something different.

It's called herding bias and it happens in a lot of places, not just video games. People don't want to be the outliers because they then get criticized and/or straight-up harassed by the internet army, so they score their reviews based upon how they think other people will receive it. Or they think "this is great / this sucks" but then see everyone else is going in a different direction and change their mind.
