It's a human skull with a weird bug-skull as some kind of mask. You can see the eye holes through the holes in the bug-skull. e: actually the bug-skull looks kinda fused to the human skull?

I feel like there was alot of rumors of a bug army for WFB way back. I wonder the rumors were real but it never got off the ground til now

The "mesh" looks a little irregular, I don't know if that's intentional but makes me think more of a mutation than a "naturally" developed set of eyes. In conjunction with the antlers it makes me think Nurgle. The only mark against it is it still feels a little too symmetrical to be nurgle, with the other horns and all.

The images are usually mashups of some of the different factions. The necklace looks like the new cow-elves; maybe pointed teeth for Undead or Vamps; horns for another beastmen faction; tree-elf stag horns; and maybe the bugs hinted at in Beastgrave?

Could be something Lizardmen too? They haven't got a warband yet.

Since GW likes to do the "traditional fantasy races, but different" thing for AOS, a cool take off the insect imagery would be if a new vampire faction were weird blood sucking insectoids or something. It won't be that. But I'd play them.

Not sure where else to put this so I'll : Goonhammer's review of BFG is (as always) well done but the link to the rules seems to be incorrect, it should be: https://www.specialist-arms.com/forum/index.php?topic=5203.0 (based on a header on the main page it seems like the site's forums might have changed recently)?

There might be a Let’s Play thread for the PC game still, but discussion of the TT game and Spike! releases etc. tends to happen here. There are a fair few Bowlers in the goon TG contingent, but we are quite scattered and there isn’t much sustained discussion anywhere. What do you want to discuss? Where are you based/what time zone are you in? I’m always happy to play refresher games online and if you’re in UK I might be able to help you find a TT club as I’m quite plugged in to the BB scene here.

Atlas Hugged posted:It's the kind of thing that is amazing to a 15 year old and completely impractical to most adults. Third edition Epic 40k even had rules for 1000 point games that would affect larger games! And Andy Chambers et al were doing articles in WD about how 40k games could affect the Epic games. For a year or so there it was the perfect system until the Epic separatists started whining about how they couldn't roll for twin-linked bolters for 20 Rhinos vs a titan. I was 100% Indiana Jones looking on the Ark of the Covenant for the first time before I realized I had school, work and a girlfriend. I still have my BFG rules and a ton of Epic stuff because one day my brother's daughters will be 18 and he and I will have the time.

The Badab War books had rules in the back for BFG forces related. Hurons flagship etc and linking scenarios.

The badab war campaign rules are awesome, it even has a whole section of rules for doing ahistorical versions. It's basically got rules and stages for ZM/40k/Epic/Battlefleet gothic And another section for Xenos that were 3rd partying around at the time, eldar corsairs, orks, genestealer cults ect. The latter not existing yet in game but we're around in the lore sorta.

Does anyone know of a good upgrade kit for an AT warhound titan to make it look like a lucius pattern? Either something I can 3D print or buy? I know there are 3rd party entire kits, but I already have 2 warhounds I want to convert

If it's a third party doing 3D prints, I'd just try emailing one of them and asking how much for just the body/armor panels that you need. They're basically made to order anyway, I imagine you might get someone who's willing to only print half the stuff

dishwasherlove posted:Can anyone tell me if Man o War is worth a look 27 years on? How long is an average game? nice eye candy, insanely complicated chrome that didn't age well and does not scale. 2k point fleets could take hours to maneuver into contact and then individually attrit and sink. I love it and have tons of fleets, and we simplified the rules over the years to keep using the models. Some ideas. below the waterlines locations on the cardboard template = hp for man o war model no reduction in firepower or movement as a result of damage taken by a ship or squadron the model is removed squadrons have communal hp and once there's fewer hp remaining than number of ships in squadron, remove the difference you get two random spells per turn. They go off automatically. There is no dispel. eliminate above/below waterline profiles. No boarding. Crew are one-shot 'cannons' to be consumed throughout the engagement. No penalty for not having any left. To hit roll is 4-6, modified for range as basic rules Combine hit location and save rolls. Everything is 4+ save unless there are fleet level or scenario modifiers. disregard fiddly squadron coherency rules. The models are hp markers and establish range as a blob. Be flexible here for playability. Sea monsters can use their wounds like crew cannon shots. These should be tracked separately from their hp taken as damage. And the sea monster special isn't ever lost until the model is removed.
