Which humans are notoriously bad at evaluating. Every year a few dozen people worldwide die of adverse reactions to vaccines (as from other medicines as well), people who would otherwise not have died. Despite that vaccines lower overall death rate significantly more. But I can see how if you're a parent it's easy to go "I don't want my child to potentially die from this vaccine, however infinitesimally small is the risk, they're never going to get the disease anyway". So here's your Russia Report: https://docs.google.com/a/independent.gov.uk/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=aW5kZXBlbmRlbnQuZ292LnVrfGlzY3xneDo1Y2RhMGEyN2Y3NjM0OWFl Consensus seems to be that Russia has influenced pretty much everything but we're not sure about Brexit because for some reason we decided not to look into that

i like the bits where it points out that london is known as the "laundromat" for global dirty money and theres a whole industry of people and politicians who are essentially agents for various russian oligarchs. i saw a british journo reposting a summary of the report. its in the very first 2 bullet points. EVEN a UK journalist can read this and understand it. he completely ignores it, can't even process it. his takeaway is: quote:[this is] disturbing and mildly damning of politicians and officials. Suggests government may have “taken its eye off the ball on Russia” and are “still playing catch up” one of the conclusions of the report is even worse imo, and is sorta referenced in that 3rd bullet point. they basically have determined that the UK is so corrupt, and the legal networks of money laundering and crime are so entrenched in high society you can't rip it out without tearing up everything, so they have to mitigate the worst effects of the corruption. NONE of this is mentioned in the papers, all the headlines are just "Russia report reveals UK government failed to investigate Kremlin interference into Brexit"

We're so hosed. Anybody else getting real down about this? I feel like the future for my kids in this country is gonna be a dystopian capitalist nightmare where we have inherited the worst parts of America. Can we stop this? Is the damage already done? Do we have to just hope that come the next GE we swing to the left? Who am I kidding. When the next GE comes along and the country has been ravished by no-deal brexit, privatised healthcare and shady trade deals the majority of the population will still blame Corbyn...
