TLDR, for whatever reason, Nintendo doesn't want new characters added to the Mario universe (or at least from the Paper Mario devs) that are based on existing characters. So if you're watching the TTYD LP, that means no Goombella, Koops, or VIOLENCE-type characters, which I think is a drat shame.
