Good on ya GW. Anyway, this begs the question as to whether the "Reference all your rules, fast!" feature: is just not in yet, or whether it's not actually a feature but just describing that you can reference rules fast if you have a good internet connection and phone?

At least right now, its not a PDF of the codex or anything, it's purely the rules content, presented by type, in alphabetical order. So you can read all the stratagems in a book in order. Or all the relics. With brand new spelling errors.

Can't wait for the 9th ed app to go the way of the Citadel Painting up with an update a year at most despite early promises it was going to see constant updates for painting suggestions. Yes I am annoyed by how much of a wet fart that app turned out to be post Contrast update.

Then I discovered that when they discontinued paints they also removed them from the app, which was really frustrating to me trying to use it for that purpose.

It has 3 tabs: Yeah it's honestly not even worth downloading as the core rules isn't in a neat searchable format it's just an embedded PDF which you can download already and view in a much easier fashion. Not sure they really realised that they really need to catch up a lot on Battlescribe in terms of convincing people why they should use the official GW app, releasing it without any real purpose doesn't achieve anything. If it were me access to all 8th edition Codexes would be free, basic army building would be free, and the core rules being searchable will be free. New 9th ed codexes need a subscription or a code from a physical copy you bought, and access to the crusade rules, missions from both the core book and the GT pack, more complex army building (like crusade, and features similar to Battlescribe's subscription model) would all be behind the subscription. When you have bullied Battlescribe out of the market by chucking your piles of money at developing features, THATS when you go for the shameless cash grab. Come on guyysk

I still use it for reference and figuring out certain paint steps but after the Contrast update the utility of it went way down. Especially after I've made an excel sheet with my various steps. Not to mention the number of issues I found went up (got like 22 different ones listed in a text file that still haven't been fixed). And last update to it was at least six months ago. If not more. I checked and it hasn't been updated since November of last year. Certainly sets a good example for the new one. Cooked Auto fucked around with this message at 17:02 on Jul 24, 2020 |

Without specific information I can't say for sure obviously but this would be my bet? And Battlescribe is a fan project that I pay for every year and I'm willing to take it warts and all but I'd be "mad salty" (as the kids say these days) if it were an official product.

Mr Teatime posted:I’ve heard that the Mechanicus standard grey rattlecan is a very poor match for the normal pot, Is it actually that bad and is there a decent match for the spray? The pot is a dark grey but the can is a grey-blue. There are loads of grey blues but I don't think any are a match for the spray exactly. Most of the time you want to paint over the spray even if it's the same colour because the finish may be slightly different or the tone slightly different due to how it was sprayed and you don't want to be in a pickle if you need to correct a mistake and it's still visible.

Matgash posted:Rules Question: Can you use rapid fire in conjunction with auspex scan? It came up in a game last weekend and we were unsure whether you could or not? You cannot use the Rapid Fire stratagem in conjunction with Auspex Scan. Rapid fire is done at the start of the shooting phase, not as a part of activating the shooting unit. If you mean the rapid fire weapon type of getting double shots at half range, then yes that part functions as normal.

Matgash posted:Rules Question: Can you use rapid fire in conjunction with auspex scan? It came up in a game last weekend and we were unsure whether you could or not? As booley says above. Part of the explanation can be found in the 9th core rules, there is a small box called 'out of phase rules' which mentions that when you're doing stuff that says 'as if it was the <<whatever phase>>' (like auspex scan does) all rules that normally apply to that phase works as normal, except for stratagems which can still only be used in the actual phase they refer to, not in the 'as if it was the...' mini-phases.

I know I'm behind on the happnings, but the GT rules disallowing specialist detachment is kinda rough on some armies - several who were already having a bad time because of points and general 9th changes. Like, no souped-up shokka, or shoot twice for dread waaagh. No hammer of sunderance and imo tempestus drop force was legit kinda cool and different way to play guard. GSC takes another pretty rough hit, especially with regards to making charges out of ambush. No broodsurge (yikes, augur of the insurgent was actually pretty important for acolytes) and no insidious mindworm either. We get it guys, you really don't want us to play aberrants (stop! stop! they're already dead). I guess they might get some of it back when the codices come out. I kinda like removing superfluous books, since having to use three books and a white dwarf was a really annoying part of 8th, but it seems a bit rough on the factions who were depending on the specialists detachments to be relevant.

Working on some necron test schemes and would love some feedback. Please excuse the crappy 3d printed models and rushed paint jobs. The first one is based off of the sandstone theme from Midwinter Minis, which involves using texture paint on the model. I thought I would like it better than I do, and I also thought it would be faster than it ended up being. Right now the purple scheme is my favorite but curious to hear what others think, especially things I could tweak or improve.

Agreed on the first one both looking the best and also needing the biggest change to improve. I think you'd get a much better look with a regular basecoat and some heavy drybrushing.

Are you using the same texture paint the video did? His was way more crackly than yours. That may be throwing off the look.

While I love my Black Templars, crusading xenophobes with a templar cross insignia is probably best to avoid. Here's a test dude for the sharks. Outside of the chapter symbol, anything else I should think about?
