It's been 5 years and people are still mad about our celebration of Nimoy's life.

quote:

[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: You Dentals were shooting off party balls at the Leonard Nimoy memorial
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: there were something like 20 pages of rage on the forums about it
[NoP Public Service] Greta@g0del: Like I said, celebrating life.
[NoP Public Service] _ F _@tacticalrook: It's disrespectful to celebrate life?
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: Have the spine to admit that you crossed a line and people were pissed about it.

quote:

[NoP Public Service] Greta@g0del: Not our fault if people were offended because we mourn differently than you do.
[NoP Public Service] _ F _@tacticalrook: Diversity is a good thing.
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: You forced people to mourn your way'
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: That's not cool
[NoP Public Service] Greta@g0del: Forced?
[NoP Public Service] Greta@g0del: There are items to precent you from dancing. And changing maps is easy.
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: Yeah, don't you remember that that was before the party ball suppressors?
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: Yeah, I get it, you're all cynical trolls who get your jollies by treating life as one big joke and ruining other people's fun.
[NoP Public Service] Karima@worffan101: You know what? You Dentals need to get a life.
[NoP Public Service] Marnoc@Varantyr: what an impressive level of butthurt
[NoP Public Service] Dietrich@indystruck#9405: Party balls put the fun into funeral, babe
Note that the party nullifiers came out months before the memorial, but you can't let facts get in the way of a good dental hate.

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

I'm finally getting around to making builds for all the different weapon types. Half just to knock out endeavors quicker, but also because, well, I've got all these ships and why not. I'm not really investing much in these, just whatever weapons and sets I can get from missions plus cheap crap off the exchange or stuff that's under 30k dill in rep gear. For example, I'm not bothering getting spire consoles, just making due with XII green tac consoles.

So. . . what the gently caress's up with tetryon? I've been able to google around and find out what oddball rep or mission gear has good set bonuses or just solid bonuses period for the other damage types, but I swear there's gently caress all out there for tetryon. Like. . . . one lobi set I've found. Is it just the orphan damage type?

I think so. I asked a few pages back about the name of a space ability I'd seen other players using (Refracting Tetryon Cascade), then tried to design a space wizard build around it, but tetryon's just got nothing.

I remember when Tetryon used to be the meta because the shield damage proc was a percentage instead of a flat value. Still sad they changed that.

Personally I really enjoy Polaron with my DrainX/EPG DeW+space wizardry build. There's a ton of items and sets that give both and there's some really cool Polaron weapons like the Vaadwaur ones. The beam weapons shoot "bolts" despite their weapon type, very unique.

main ones that come to mind:
  • Morphogenic Armaments
  • Chronometric Calculations
  • Lukari Restoration Initiative Armaments
  • Delta Operations
  • Jem'Hadar Space Set
  • Temporal Defense Initiative Starship Technologies

here's what I'm using right now, it's nothing amazing but it can pull off 100k DPS if I'm on top of things. definitely helps to have a keybind to mash all the buffs otherwise it's annoying to keep them all going. my favorite thing is definitely letting off charged particle burst III into huge groups of enemies (chidyat swarmers in particular). I've seen it bring a GTX1080 to it's knees with all the charged particle reaction procs going off simultaneously. surprisingly my ryzen 1800X deals with it fairly well, only drops down to 40-50fps when I do that.

quote:

This to inform our members and STO Administrators that tonight, Thursday, September 24, at 9:37 PM eastern, an attack was carried out upon our channel XTERN1TY by members of Something Awful and the Nerds of Prey/Starfleet Dental group. This attack kicked all non-administrative members of our channel, over 750 members. This happened after I revealed to the perpetrator, a trusted member of our group; I knew he was playing double sides. As there would be no proof of this unless they made their move; I let the spy do what they wanted all along to prove beyond any doubt their true intent. Though the saboteur was a longtime member of our channel, treated as a trusted friend and granted limited administrator privileges, he was never truly on our side and was only waiting for an opportunity to stab us in the back.
I have our channel members on my friends list and will be sending out invites to those kicked tomorrow with the assistance of our allied fleet leaders and loyal administrators. No fleet members have been kicked in our fleets or any of our allies, this only affected our channel.

This is not a simple XTERN1TY vs Dental issue and has not been for a while as we are not the only targets of their attacks. This is a Something Awful vs STO issue and must be addressed. Even if you do not want any part of this, you will be affected by the far reaching consequences of this group's background activities on STO, if you are not already. Please read the following overview for further insight.
Pertinent background info on the conflict by bully-troll groups led by SA groups SW/NoP/SFD/T'D:
In our prior encounter with NoP/Dental, as some recall from Druk's forum thread, we last foiled an attempt at sabotage like they had used successfully on Eve: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/200...ps-super-drama/ By luring their spies into the open through the use of scripted fleet mails, we prevented that part of their plan, but what they've been after all along is to break apart our entire group, including channel; as they have now proven.

http://i.imgur.com/TbE8W7w.png

For the past 2 years we have been under almost constant attack by these groups of bully-trolls because of our firm stand against their harmful acts (which has nothing to do with disco balls or any of the petty excuses they give to mask the real issue) - despite repeated requests to be left alone and appeals to administrators of STO, which have been largely ignored.
Aside from in-game and forum smear and shaming campaigns, my friends have been witness and subjected to cyberbullying and especially psycho-bullying off-game by SA members especially psycho-bullying. Psycho-bullying is what I call the mind-games they play on people, e.g, group bullying a target while pretending to others to be doing something benign, even beneficial.

SA members regularly use the game and internet as a platform to perform acts of intentional malice. This kicking comes the day after we uncovered solid evidence of something I had already realized - that members of NoP-Dental were abusing game dynamics to cause harm to others, examples of which include:
Deliberately abusing the auto-silence feature by spam group reporting a target of intimidation until they receive a mute in-game, accessing server side areas of STO to find ip addresses of targets, using STO to compile personal information of players in their Shutup Wesley wiki and they approach targeted female (possibly underage) players, asking for explicit photographs and encounters. Those who speak out are routinely threatened and harassed into silence, to such an extent they are forced to leave STO. One example of this regular game abuse is their secret joining of a private channels without being invited to spy on conversations using backdoor tricks.

These are tricks they claim to know because of close relationship with Developers. Ultimately, though SA's groups must be held accountable for their actions; it is impossible to negate Company involvement. Posts like SFD Visits Cryptic Studios are used by SFD to intimidate players and keep them quiet. Though we have not recorded any incidents of Devs actually participating in malicious activity of SA groups, workers of Cryptic have supported SA/NoP/SFD and participated in their threads, lending credence to NoP-Dental's stance that they are supported by devs. This poses a conflict of interest both logically and legally.

Public Petition:
I ask all concerned and responsible players to join us in an open call for a full investigation of the SA/NoP/SFD groups, their activities and the connections they have with workers of Cryptic. Your support is crucial to override the overwhelming brainwashing this group is doing to people in game to mask their own ill activities.
Regardless what you think of me or our group, nothing gives NoP/Dental the authority to use STO as a platform to abuse to the extent they take it, even if they have been allowed the ability to do so. While they attempt to silence us by saying it's just a game so they can continue without facing punishment, what they are involved in doing is no game to those they attack, but brings about consequences and potential for real world harm. I have seen suicide threats posted by people who have been harassed by this group and have intervened on multiple occasions on behalf of other players. I will not keep silent on SA's abuse of this game and I encourage those who understand what I'm talking about to speak out with me. If you wish to discuss this issue, feel free to contact me here

I found out two very important things today:
  1. You can buy a 6th DOFF active duty roster slot (ground and space) at the Fleet Spire for 150k FC each. I had no idea this even existed until someone mentioned it on discord.
  2. That there's a third type of liberated borg DOFF, the Strength Through Unity ones. They are really good, and really expensive.

definitely worth it tho

I’m definitely going to get it, if only to add yet another line of text to my Tykens Rift tooltip. Gotta at least try running both of them at the same time.

I wonder if it also includes Ionic Turbulence, it does work as a SIA AoE damage source. That would be sweet.

Yes. But the 'drama' is they told/suggested it would be retroactive for everyone:

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11461853-personnel-tab-items-are-now-account-unlocks%21

Which was the plan when that announcement was made. Apparently they didn't even understand their own system well enough to know it wouldn't work before a certain date, as there was no such mention in that blog.

So why did Cryptic in their infinite wisdom limit the number of active gravimetric scientist DOFFs to only ONE?! Pretty much every other DOFF spec can be stacked, often up to 3 of one type.

also testing out this CPB radiation proc DOFF and something really fucky is going on. not only does the DOFF description damage not even come close to the actual tooltip damage:

as if that wasn't bad enough, somehow despite claiming to be a 20% chance it only managed to proc 8 times the entire battle, despite CPB3 dealing nearly 2m damage and hitting pretty much every Chid'yat swarmer in the entire Home mission. There's a LOT of swarmers.

It's almost as if what's actually happening is there's a 20% chance every time you use CPB for it to deal damage to a single enemy caught in the AoE or something along those lines. which is so completely loving terrible and useless I am sorely tempted to throw this slacker out of the nearest airlock just for wasting my time.

plus his quote? "Weapons can sometimes be found in the most unusual places." In a couple weeks there will be a free T6 ship for the Summer Event. If you can save up the EC, you can get a Hirogen Hunter vessel off the exchange, i think that's the only ship left with the free upgrade to T5U that's still readily available.

Otherwise, grind up 5 reputations for the fleet ship tokens and buy a T6 fleet ship.

I think infinity just because there's a bigger choice in all the actual prizes, so you have a better chance of getting something worth using/selling. The chances of getting anything really good other than lobi is still vanishingly small, of course.

Alternatively, open the angel's wake box and hope that you get a ba'ul vanity shield from a weapons pack. It's all black, so there will always be demand for it.

The problem is the list of trash loot in the Infinity box is almost infinitely long, on the other hand if you actually manage to win the ship you'd definitely rather have the infinity choice pack.

The only way to win is not to play, but if you need the lobi you might as well go infinity and hope you don't get too many kit frames or whatever
